First of all, best wishes and prayers to Randy Brown. Secondly,
greetings to Bobby, Frank, Bert, Carbs, Moderate, MnMike, Anni,
Howard, Loudon, Clark, and Pitts. I've almost missed you guys.

Significant golf news in my life is that I reluctantly joined the
local country club, taking advantage of a membership deal they had
($1495/annual...no food or fees). Smartest move I've made since
leaving RSG. :) Aside from the usually empty golf course, the big
surprise was how friendly and unpretentious the membership is. There
are games every day but all I ever have to do is show up and soon I'm
invited into a game. Real contrast with my membership in public
courses. For those of you who actually golf, you may want to look
into it yourself. Country clubs are hurting and consequently, deals
abound. Link to my course is below...

Last comment....is Tiger doing a modified version of the stack n
tilt? Whatever he's doing, it sure is fun to watch him play. Still
think he's a twit but dang, he's good for the game....and my personal
interest. The Chevron had me riveted.

Greg... I hardly ever get into this group for reading material and it was good to see your note. I'm hoping my wife Judy and I get a chance to do a bit of travel in the future and would love to get a round in with you folks... Cheers... Bob

Yo Dene. What a surprise, and also coincidence. I just had a note
from Brad Greer and in it he asked about you. Didn't have any news,
but now I do.

RSG is a u-turn from the good old days. Very little golf spoken here.
All of the c-list is gone and they asked my why I stayed. I guess
it's because if I'm gonna discuss politics I'd rather do it here than
one of the political forums. At least most here are golfers.

Hard to tell anyone how a country club can be something other than a
bunch of snobs. Going on my 33rd year at my present one, and drive
100 miles round trip to play twice a week. At around $4-500 a month,
which includes meals every round, carts and full use of driving range
it's a good. deal.

You'll find the TW haters saying that it shouldn't count because of
the small number of players....but if he'd blown it ... well that
would be different.

Glad to hear from you and hope you stick around. I'll try to get in
touch with Randy tomorrow and will advise how things are going.

Good to hear from you Greg! Course looks beautiful, if a bit
treacherous, from the Flash tour. Especially the front.

Me too. Although I thought he was going to come up short.

I'm not a obsessive about mechanics, but to me his swing looks nearly as
good as it did during the Harmon era. He's making solid contact nearly
every time and there's not a lot of extra movement. He just has to keep
it in play to be right there. If his putting picks up he will have a
very good year.

It would be a treat both to see you two and go golfing with you.
Friday afternoons are especially perfect. Half off for guests (my
treat)...and the course is wide open. Just say when.

I predict a young baseball player with the last name of Greer will be
drafted by the M's...and then the damn Rangers will "steal" him for
300 million.

certain charm to it.

Ya know...I was one of those who thought you were nuts but now I get
it. Getting into a right mix of fellas is priceless, especially the
beer, blood, and bragging rights afterwards.

Ironically there is a pack of Texans (from Longview) who travel north
every year to play in our member guest (and escape your heat/
humidity). I happen to be paired with one named Ricky Ray Stubbs. We
had a ball...and took 2nd place.

He has a full blown Texan twang which really amused me, especially
when he said to me, "put it in the ho." So one time I asked him,.

"Ricky Ray, how do you say whore in Texas?"
"Ho"
"How do you say hole in Texas?
"Ho"
"Hmmm...."

Thanks. Glad to see you are doing well. What a year for Dallas
sports.

Not sure if I'll stick. Started a new business, in addition to
managing my old...but we'll see. I prefer US politics to the RSG
politics of old.

I'm ashamed to admit I've never seen the flash, but the front is
easier than the back...by an average of 4 strokes. I've really had to
adjust my expectations on this course. My GHIN is 14 which makes my
course handicap a 16. I'm tickled to break 85 where before, on the
muni track, I was disappointed when I didn't break 80. You must have
a good short game to score on this course. Many slick, sloped greens.

He seems to bend his left leg while straightening his right, which is
supposedly S&T.
His putting was amazing....especially the last day of the Prez Cup.
My favorite shot was the Phil Phlop on Friday's round that almost went
in. I neither have the talent nor courage to try a shot like that.
Amazing!

Nothing like that around here (sigh)

My course's front is about 4 strokes tougher, if you judge by 9 hole
ratings. But I'm consistent enough that sometimes I'm better on one
side - sometimes on the other.

When the golf course is two minutes from your house you don't need to
pack a lunch.

Don't let them catch you bringing beer onto the course. The course is
run by a county entity and you are not permitted to bring alcohol onto
the course, it cuts into their revenue. They will confiscate your beer
and they may throw you out for the day.

Greg... I told Judy about our recent interchange and she said she couldn't quite remember you. I said you had brought your wife. She asked, "Theresa?". Funny what the ladies remember. She says she was in a group with Theresa, Joey (who she adores) and Theresa and they were having quite the time in the wind and rain at Wildhorse... Theresa with her rain cape and them doing a lot of laughing. Bob
