I need some info on where I can pick up an older driver. The other day I
went out with a buddy of mine and he was using his fathers clubs. His dad
had gotten a set of Cobra clubs ( 1-3, 3-9 PW ) from Play it Again Sports
about a year and a half ago for $250.00. The clubs were in great condition.
I tried out the driver and LOVED it! It said 9 degree, deep face, King
Cobra, 1, Ti ( I think ). The shaft was Aldila<sp>, firm flex. This all the
information I could get on this club. I guess it has to be 2 or 3 years old.
I loved the way it felt and hit. Is there any way I can pick up one of these
clubs now? I tend to slice my drives, so now I have been using a Blast Out
16 degree steel shaft( regular flex ) fairway wood off the tee that I got
from Chipshot.com. It is an Adams clone and it works GREAT. I hit it
straight and without ANY slice EVER. When I break out any driver I sometimes
hit it straight but mainly slice, so I always go back to the Blast Out off
the tee. I want to get a bit more distance off the tee, so I am looking for
a driver. I loved that King Cobra, too bad I can't get my hands on the one
I used the other day. I'd rather hit the ball shorter and straight than
longer and slice any day, this is why I always go back to the 16 degree
Blast Out. Any and all help would be appreciated!!
Man, 30 years old ( today! Happy Birthday to me ), RH, 220 lbs., 5' 11" I
don't know if any of that info helps. Thanks again!

The 9 degree deep face you used probably was not titanium. THese clubs,
though out of production (I think, they reintroduced them for a while, but I
think that is over) are relatively easy to find. However, you may find the
price tags a bit steep due to their demand. Go to some of the clubsearches
on the web, you are bound to find one. Maybe even ebay. Good luck to you.

Hey Al,

Golf Day magazine has all of that kind of stuff in it. It's a publication
that has a lot of discontinued stuff and knock-offs in it. In fact, the
driver you're talikng about is available in the latest issue for $149.
Doesn't take long for them to ship either. I have recently ordered some
Bolle sunglasses from them and got them pretty quick (4days). Here's the
order line number (for a copy of magazine): 800-669-8600
Customer service # is: 800-473-4653.

Hope that helps.

See if you can get the club and show it to them at that play it again sports
outlet...They can watch for one...

I might be able to recomend something similar....

I use a 9 degree "Deep face" oversize (270cc) driver, with an offset, that is
made from *forged* titanium...The "Deep Face" effectively eliminates topped
balls and questions of ?how high? to tee it up...The oversize makes miss-hits
and slices a lot less extreme...the offset helps make my natural fade into an
asset...being a forged head makes it possible to encorporate a Low center of
gravity which gets the ball into the air well,
and a mid flexpoint shaft helps keep trajectorys from ballooning.

Built it myself and have nicknamed it "Sparky" for the pyrotechnic special
effects it throws off at times...Cost me about $75.

Sound interesting?

I didn't go to check for you, buy you might try www.golfclubexchange.com

One of my friends had good experience with the site. They use an escrow
system, so you don't have to trust your money directly to the seller. Seems
a little safer.

There is a shop here in SLC, Utah that is selling used Cobra titanium woods
for $120.00. I bet that the steel ones are even less expensive. They will
ship clubs, I think. You can call them at Uinta Golf (800) 444-4880.
their web page is at www.uintagolf.com but I couldn't find their used club
section on the web. They have a huge used club selection in their store
however.

ALLRIGHT, I'm not crazy!!!!!!!!!
Was following this thread when I saw your
description of the "sparks". I couldn't convince
my buddies that I could see sparks on my own
Cobra Titanium driver. It was dusk so the sparks
were right in front of me, but they couldn't see
anything, and yea it kept freaking me out too!
Didn't know this was characteristic of titanium.

Also, anyone on this thread know where I can
track down a set of the Cobra Titanium Red Suede
Head Covers for 1,3,5,7 woods, (it also has the
periodic table entry for Titanium which really
appeals to us engineers). I like the one for my
driver but it is a bit used and would like a
whole new set. Appreciate any leads.

I didn't know about it at first either...thot maybe
the club was posessed. It straightened my shots out
perfectly and added 20 yards...
I was waiting for a little guy in a red suit to ask
me to sign something in blood.

I notice it with my Great Big Bertha when at the range and I try to hit it off
of the carpet. It doesn't take much of a whack off of the mat to see a spark
hop up. I'll have to ask one of my materials science professors what might
cause that.
