CBS announcer: Any U.S. soldier would shoot Pelosi, strangle Reid
@ 5:16 pm by Michael O'Brien

CBS Sports commentator David Feherty drew criticism Friday for suggesting
any U.S. soldier would murder House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) and
Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) if given the chance.

"From my own experience visiting the troops in the Middle East, I can tell
you this, though: despite how the conflict has been portrayed by our
glorious media, if you gave any U.S. soldier a gun with two bullets in it,
and he found himself in an elevator with Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid, and
Osama bin Laden, there's a good chance that Nancy Pelosi would get shot
twice, and Harry Reid and bin Laden would be strangled to death," Feherty
wrote in an a D Magazine piece welcoming former President George W. Bush
back to Dallas.

Feherty, a former professional golfer who now helps call golf events for
CBS, said that troops love former President Bush by contrast, and praised
the former commander-in-chief for having prevented additional terrorist
attacks during his time in office.

Liberal media watchdog Media Matters for America demanded an apology for
the remarks Friday.

"Mr. Feherty's violent comments about Speaker Pelosi and Majority Leader
Reid are disgusting," said Media Matters President Eric Burns. "Suggesting
that our troops would attack the leaders of the very democracy they've
sworn to sacrifice their lives for is an insult to their integrity, honor,
and professionalism. CBS Sports should demand its golf analyst apologize to
our soldiers."

I hate pelosi too but i hate bush even more and don't see how feherty
can support bush. But then, feherty has made some incredible
statements in the past. I remember a while back some golf commentator
said he fantasized about killing his children. I think it was feherty
though i won't swear to that. Anybody else remember that story?

Well, it probably won't get him kicked off of Masters coverage, but it
*should* get him deported. For a guy who claims to support the
troops, he just slandered all but the kooks among them.

You're as bad as Feherty. There are millions of Americans, including
me, who are not happy with Pelosi and Reid. There are only a handful
of kooks like yourself who actually want to murder them.

And this is another opportunity to ask what I've been asking for
months, without a single reply, yes or no: Is it Feherty who is now
narrating the Chevron commercials? It sounds exactly like him, but he
without his Irish accent. Kind of like that "Mentalist" star, who
speaks American on the show, but is from Australia, and sounds like it
off the show.

Now that's a dumb thing to say. Take away his irish accent and he's
just another voice.

But there are MILLIONS who'd laugh their heads off if someone else did
it. I remember when Hinckley shot Reagan - and how it was exactly
that way then among a lot of people who couldn't even load a gun.

Feherty is now trying to weasel out of his comments.

"This passage was a metaphor meant to describe how American troops
felt about our 43rd president,'' Feherty said in a statement. "In
retrospect, it was inappropriate and unacceptable, and has clearly
insulted Speaker Pelosi and Senator Reid, and for that, I apologize.
As for our troops, they know I will continue to do as much as I can
for them both at home and abroad.''

If it is false to say that Pelosi and Reid are not well liked by the
tropps, then Feherty should apologize. If not, there is nothing to
apologize for. Nowhere near the rants against Bush.

Your parents and teachers should apologize for your lack of reading
comprehension. Feherty didn't say they weren't well liked, he said
that any US soldier would murder them if he had the chance. In other
words, he said that our troops, all of them, are homicidal maniacs.

Yes, he should apologize to Reid and Pelosi, but an apology isn't good
enough for slandering the troops like that. He should be fired.

Note that this was not an off-the-cuff comment to an unexpected
question, which would have been bad enough. This was in an essay that
he wrote, so he said exactly what he meant to say. No excuse for it.

It's got nothing to do with what or whom I like, or whom I differ
with. Alder volunteered that it makes him unhappy to see Dick "Dick"
Cheney disparaged, and since it is an empirical fact that Cheney is
one of the most unpopular politicians in recent memory, the obvious
conclusion is that Alder will remain unhappy for the foreseeable
future. I was merely displaying that most hateful (to Republicans) of

Oh, don't worry. I have gotten accustomed to both the brevity of
Liberals' "rcent emory" and the soul-sucking hatred that they think everyone
shares.

No question about that. It's pretty clear what Feherty was saying, and
equally clear that your political extremist glasses prevent you from
seeing the truth of that. Of course I am the kind of person who thinks
my dogs are more important that what Feherty thinks US military
personel think of Pelosi and Reid, although the fact that people like
you can't see the truth of these things is somewhat curious, almost to
the point of being interesting.

Prove it, Judy.

We're still trying to figure out if there's ANYTHING you know about.

Handle every stressful situation like a dog would.

If you can't eat it or hump it....Piss on it and walk away.
