I laughed and then decided to completely ignore his responses. Ya
know....give him the nomen treatment.
Then I started thinking things through. With Ken gone, Larry rarely
posting, how is Baker going to continue his schtick of picking stupid
fights. Undoubtably, I'm in his crosshairs and if I play along, I'm going
to be wasting time in ridiculous pissing matches with a silver spoon ski bum
who cannot admit to anything obvious. More pertinent, what does he bring to
the table in terms of golf or life in general? He's made one interesting
thread about stack and tilt. That's it!!!! Rest have been Larry and Ken
threads, ad nauseum.
Time for action. I recalled some advice Phlum gave me about an server
called news.individual.net out of Germany. I googled it up, paid my 10
Euros ($15) and now I'm off Google Groups for good.
First one plonked. Alan Baker. Next one...Dave Jones, aka nomen. You
think I'd plonk Tex but truth be told, he's entertaining, even downright
funny, and I like his politics. So Tex stays. Al and not-so-brave-dave
goes.
I feel great. Nice to have control of my NG again.

Good move.
I'm sure you will find RSG much more pleasant. I have a few people
plonked but without exception they are either worthless posters (like
Laura Bush Murdered, Miss Anne Thrope, etc) or the truly anonymous
people, i.e. not just people who use a handle to hide their private
lives. I also plonk without exception the political threads.
I tend to keep a lot of the flame wars because honestly I find them
quite funny at times.
Plonking, used when necessary, has made RSG quite enjoyable for me.

Me too. But wasn't it Greg who called me a coward for kill filing
him? I guess he thinks that of himself now.

Yes, I hold true to my beliefs. What I say is what I mean, and you
know that. When someone makes obvious statements that show their
hypocrisy... that isn't changing. Greg just did this, and you know
that too.

I hold true to my beliefs too but they change and sometimes
dramatically. Some would consider that hypocrisy. I would call it
"self-awareness"[1] and "being able to listen to other points of
view." I don't think there is anything wrong with changing one's
mind. Isn't that what the exchange of ideas is all about?

Are you kidding? Please don't even suggest that Greg has become
"self-aware" and changed his mind about my kill filing him, or that he
will stop the skulking. Ain't happening.
This must be a fake post. :)
Tex
So, once one has taken a position on an issue it shall never change?
If that is the case I'm in big trouble. I said many times I would
never allow distance measuring devices at RSG-Cincinnati and then a
couple of years ago I allowed them.
The USGA is in big trouble for changing the Rules of Golf.

You plonked MAT? Horrors! I block thread titles (and some worthless
posters). Regretfully, if anyone discusses a golf course in Iran or
Iraq, with a guitar, in Walmart, etc., I'll miss it completely.

OK. When I'm told by him that I wasn't a coward for kill filing him,
fine. Think that'll happen John?

Sorry that I'm a little late to this one. BK is not a coward for plonking
me, if indeed he has. He's a coward for taking pot shots at me (see above)
while hiding behind a kill file. Big difference.
I assure you that my plonks will be thoroughly ignored, both ways.
Finally....you are absolutely right about self awareness. My views on a
variety of subjects have evolved through the years. It's called growth.
Those minds who haven't entertained a new thought in years have trouble with
that concept. The worse being extreme fundamentalist in religious circles.
They have life figured out and you're damned if you do adhere to it.
Me---->most of my beliefs are subject to review.
-Greg
See...that made me laugh. More soup for you.

You need to stick to a story. Am I a silver spoon ski bum, or am I in my
mum's basement?
As for when I posted my response, it got posted when I read yours, which
was after I came home from dinner with my aunt, which was after I played
hockey.

"Crosshairs"? Please. You picked this fight. You called me a liar.

And the very first thing you've done is to take potshots at me from
behind your kill filter...

I've judiciously used the kill file since I started reading from OE again.
Just put an imbecile in there this weekend and am enjoying RSG much more.
Like JDvP, I use it only when truly necessary. You'll enjoy this much more,
but now watch the guys who you've said that you've killfiled try to get you
to answer them! The games are starting.

Oh the games have begun. Al has used two anoms. and e-mail, trying to
bypass the plonk and engage me in a pissing match. Truth be told, I abhor
plonking, but Al is way OTT. He's certifiable. I should have done this
months ago.
