I have a Ping Pal 4 which I really like but wish it was slightly more
upright. Can this be bent 2-3 degrees? I don't know what the material
is but it is the silver color, not the brass or bronze or whatever that
is.

If not that, Bruce, you could also bend the shaft to accomodate the
change. They make a device for doing just that (Golfsmith sells one).
I bought one for exactly this reason, but it's never been used!

Of course, you still need to make sure that the lie angle remains at most 80
degrees (i.e. the shaft needs to diverge from the vertical by at least 10
degrees).

Bruce, I got one of the shaft-bending tools, the bar with the
crosspiece on the end which is fitted with two brass bushings. I
needed to bend a triple-bend shaft to make it more upright for a
fellow I was building a putter for, and I just applied a very small
and judicious amount of torch heat to the bending point, and then in
very small increments used the bending tool. It worked very well for
me. Small amount of bluing on the shaft, but he didn't mind that at
all, otherwise I'd have gotten some of the compound that removes that
stuff and applied it. Forget which place has it, but G'smith is a
good possibility.
Bending the shaft is a whole lot easier than bending the hosel, IMHO.

Thanks to all who replied. I'll look into it locally.

the hosel is titanium and it will break. A Ti putter I got off of E-bay
was "bent" as was the shaft (it was all screwed up) I took it to the golf
shop and asked the guy if he could straighten it out. He tried but the
hosel broke. We sent the club back to Ping, They put a new shaft and hosel
on it, but
it still wasn't set up right. It went back a second time. I told them the
loft and lie I wanted. The forwoman on the shop floor said they didn't
have many Ti hosels left but they would try. When it came
back it was set up perfect.
Hope you have luck with the PAL 4

Thanks. It isn't a big priority, but I do want to have it done.

Bruce if you want to send it to me, I'll take it into the Karsten Repair
Shop for you.
It's nearby, I like going there anyway.
They have very good customer service. In addition, they stand behind their
own repairs, in case something goes wrong. If somrthing breaks, they make
good on it. A local repair guy probably won't.
E-mail off line if you'd like.

Yes it can be bent. Your best bet is to send it back to Ping to have them
do it.
