I have a Bag Boy cart bag on which two zippers have broken (i.e., the
toothed part has broken apart), so they need replacing. I've
contacted Bag Boy, but they don't offer a repair service and can't
suggest one.

The zippers are heavy duty, and one is the special two-slider open-
from-the-center type, which I'd like to replace with the same type if
possible--but that's not essential.

ISTM I should be looking for someone who does work along the lines of
luggage or canvas goods repairs (tentmaker?).

Does anyone have 1) experience or 2) contacts or 3) ideas about my
chances of getting it done for less than the cost of a new bag?

Try and see if you can find a parachute rigger. They may look at it as a
challenge. Find your local FBO or Drop Zone and ask them about Master
Parachute Riggers.

My suggestion would be to find a shoe repair guy, if you can. Of
course, the best move is to buy a new bag - it will probably weigh less
than the zippers you are getting re-installed in your old bag. :-)

Any canvas shop should be able to fix it.

Thanks for the suggestions and pointers. They led me, via Google, to
an experienced local luggage repair shop which works on a wide range
of heavy duty stuff including golf bags. I've pulled all the junk
out of the bag and will take it to the hospital this afternoon with
the assumption any surgery will go well.

For anyone in the greater Long Beach (CA) area who might need similar
work in the future, it's Aero Luggage Repair in Santa Ana. I won't
report back unless something happens that I should warn other golfers
about.
