I went to hybrids 5 iron though 2 iron. They are so easy to hit.

The rest of my irons and woods are Pings , over 6 years old. They are
still as reliable and forgiving as anything out there. Have no plans to
change, I still believe it is the indian, not the arrow.

Been looking at some putters. Mine is now 15 years old. Ready for a
change, just for the sake of it. So many options, this will be a tough
decision.

Best of luck on the Putter decision. I am convinced that there is
little science involved in Putter selction. It's all feel to me. I
finally found one that worked for me about 6 years ago. An ancient
Anser given to me from a friend - he found it in a yard sale bin for
$10, and had it regripped. I've actually bought another more
expensive Ping since then and keep going back to the 1970's one he
gave me.

The only potential replacement coming for me next year will be my
beloved 5-wood persimmon. She's about worn out...

I know, Buddy. It's makin' me sad really. I've been keeping an eye
on both E(vil)Bay and the manufacturer's site as well to see if they
might come up with something comparable... Time will tell. Until
then, I look forward to as many "thwacks" as possible out of the old

They are still in business, I get email from them all the time.

I have their Niblick series fairway woods that I use all the time.

A friend of mine got one of their persimmon putters. It is a beauty!!
He won't play it 'cause he says it looks too good.

Lloyd - I have the Niblick 7-wood in the bag and like it. It has a
Ginty-like prow - which is very different from my 5W pear shape. I
have been eyeing the 50's style for a couple of months now. Any
experience with them on your end? Flatter sole? I couldn't tell in
the pictures. (FWIW, I use the 5-wood for anything from 205 - 225
yards.)

For me it is replacing my Wishon 550C's with the Wishon 560MC model. My 50*
wedge is pretty much shot so it must be time to replace all of them,

bit longer than normal for a 7..

I don't have any experience with their 50's style, but if they are true

I'm seriously eyeing the 3 Niblick this year and maybe a draw bias Smart

My Irons are about 8 years old, but I like them. I think the manufacturer
went out of business. The graphite shafts started breaking almost from the
first. One broke the first week, another the first couple months, then it
slowed down. I've still got some of the original shafts left, so by now
breakage is just to be expected from age, not some manufacturers flaw.

I'm back to taking lessons, once I've got a more consistent swing, I'm
thinking of getting new shafts matched to my new swing, and with all the
clubs having the same type of shaft.

Right now, I don't know how much good it'll do me, but I hope to get
consistent enough for it to make a difference.

Happy golfing in 2010!

A new driver.
I had changed from 11 to 10.5 degrees in 2008 (10 degrees wasn't available
for the desired Taylormade Burner). After a while I recognised that the
ball flight was seemingly too high. I then bought a 9.5 degree Mizuno 560
driver (all with regular shafts) but I had to change my grip to get the
ball lower. This works with both clubs.

A new set of clubs after I realised that I hit the rescues better than the
irons. This is a set of Mizuno MX-950 with a hybrid design, a sellout
bargain from England. Alas, I'm not sure if they really improve my game.

A new 56 degree Mizuno SW bought ahead with the Mizuno set because my
54 degree Mizuno shows some wear.

I'm quite confident with my putter of two years, an Odyssee Sabretooth.
I agree with dugjustdug, buying a putter isn't rational but emotional.
It must first fit to the eye and then fit to the hands. Plus, for a
lazybones like me it must have a feature to pick up the ball from the
ground.

Wow, the promos are starting early this year .... err, I mean next
year.
I gotta admire that. At least you promote your event unlike some
people I know in OHIO who try to keep their event a secret.

Heck, I've even started having golf dreams again, or golf nightmares.
In last night's round I'd hit a drive right down the middle. Then
when I'd get ready to hit my approach there would be a big wall or
shed in the way. So I'd punch one around it into the fairway and this
time there would be a big fence and a bunch of trees that blocked my
path. Then when I finally got onto the green the ball wouldn't stop
rolling. It was kinda like the way Strulowitz plays in real life.

My usual golf nightmare has the ball sitting on the tee all ready to
be hit and there's usually a wall only a foot or two behind my ball.
So I spend hours re-teeing the ball trying to find a spot where I can
swing the club. By the time I get ready to hit it darkness has fallen
and I have to go home.

Any dream psychologists out there? Where's that crazy Strauss when you
need him?
