Is this a noticeable difference?
I'm trying to figure out if I should return them for another set with the D2
swingweight. That's the swingweight of my old clubs, and they seemed fine.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but shouldn't D1 be a touch lighter?
Thanks!
Probably not.

Yes, D1 is a bit lighter.
How do they work? That's the real issue here.

Not in my opinion.

Actually, it could go either way depending on the weights of the grips. If you
have the same weight grips on both sets, then you can say that the D1 will
probably be a touch lighter, but I doubt most people could tell the
difference.

Flex is a factor of feel that may or may not offset the 'difference' in
swing weight.
What is it, about one penny taped to the head of the club = one SW (I
don't know - just guessing.)

I doubt even the majority of pros could feel a difference between D1 and
D2. There are too many other variables to consider.

Not necessarily. Consider two identical sets that measure E2 without
grips installed. One set gets 50-gram grips, the other gets 55-gram
grips. The 'lighter' overall set would s.w. about D2, and the 'heavier'
overall set would s.w. ~ D1 (the ones with the 55-gr grips).

No. Just to add another vote!

Possibly. They could also be a tad shorter.
Yeah obviously, but the relevant question is your first one - will you
notice? No. But if you want, you can put a piece of lead tape on the clubs
to bump up the swingweight. It looks cool when the pros do that.
I assumed you meant lighter in terms of swingweight, not actual weight. If
you meant actual weight then I agree with the others: maybe.

Don't bother, they'll likely just send you the same set back

Actually, it's more like the weight of a dollar bill. And yes, there are a
handful of other variables.
It's ironic that quality-control was important to club manufacturers, back
before the technology explosion. You aren't likely to find a set of clubs
that say D2, which actually weigh D2. If you're only off one swingweight,
consistently, through the set, you've done well. Don't worry about it, FH.
Just add some lead tape to the adjust the swingweight, if it really matters
to you.

No. Minimum perceptible differential is about 2 SW points.........and
this would only be noticeable by an experienced low handicap
golfer.....if anything the difference noted would be in 'flex' and
timing. The essential thing is that all your clubs should show the same
swingweight ±1 SW point if they are to be considered a matching set.
One SW point is the change you would get if you were to alter the length
of your club by little more than 1/8th of an inch!.

david
Thank you very much for all the responses.
I played with them for the first time today, and as most of you have said -
I couldn't tell the difference.
Thanks!
