Hi:

Can NY Giant fans shed some light on the current status and past
performances of Eric Dorsey??(If there existed a player by that name).

Or in general, did a player by this name play in the NFL in recent
times??

I think he's their nose-tackle now.
He was (or is) holding out, I think.

Eric was drafted in 86 and a couple years later replaced retired
(and sure to be HOF) George martin at left DE. Eric has been an
average player over all, very good run stopper and below average
pass rusher. He has been bang up over the last few years.
He is the best "built" Defensive Line man at 290lbs-300lbs. I think
his weight attributes to is inability to rush the passer, but over
the off-season he lost about 20lbs and took up karate to increase
his speed (hands and feet) as well as flexability. He has been
very consestant at getting into the back field during the preseason,
when ask to pressure the QB.
He is being pushed at his position by 2 very good young players.
Eric should have a good 92 season barring injury.

I think Tim is thinking about Eric Howard who is the NT for the Giants and held
out until this past week.

Eric Dorsey was a first-round draft pick (19th player taken overall) in the
1986 draft. He has been with the Giants the whole time and took over the DE
spot when George Martin retired. He has never lived up to his first-round
status, but is the strongest person on the Giants team (in the weight room).

FYI, this year Dorsey has cut back on the weights and started with karate to
improve his agility and quickness. It seems to have helped - Dorsey is having
the best training camp since he became a Giant.
