I don't get it. Why would anyone nominate Art Modell, onc of the worst pro
football owners ever, to the Football Hall of Fame. He never played
football, he never coached football, in fact, until he became owner of the
Cleveland Browns, he never had much to do with football. His management of
the Browns was pitiful:
1. He fired one of the most respected coaches of all time, Paul Brown.
2. He so mismanaged the Browns that although the sold out almost everytime
and received great amounts of shared TV and gate receipts, he still somehow
became broke.
3. I realize that other teams have been moved in the past, but Modell took
a great franchise and ran himself into the ground and chose to move the team
dispite the great support and interest Cleveland fans always gave the
Browns. He could of sold it for a good profit to a number of Clevelanders,
but he chose to screw the fans and move. He thereafter had to sell it.

If this guy gets into the Hall of Fame, every owner should get in since
there were very few worst than Modell. A high school kid would have made
money running the Browns in Cleveland. Why is this guy (Modell) even on the
Hall of Fame ballot. His election would literally make a joke of the Hall
of Fame. Yet obviously some people want him elected. Why?

Fortunately, common sense prevailed. Art Modell didn't make it into the
Hall of Fame. Nevertheless, I'm still puzzled why he ever got as far as the
second cut. Outside of the Baltimore area (and they should know better), I
don't know why anyone would know his history and support him for entrance to
the HOL.
