Since Bill Belichick arrived in Cleveland, he has forced out Slaughter,
langhorne and now Kosar-the heart and soul of the Browns, while doing next
to nothing to improve the offensive offensive line or the tight end
situation. He has refused to hire an offensive coordinator, though being
nowhere near qualified to run an NFL offense. Moreover, his defense, his
specialty, gives up 29 points to the Denver Broncos, the team every Browns
coach is hired to beat! He can't run his defense, he can't run an offense,
and he gets rid of Bernie Kosar, a quarterback who took the Browns to 3
championship games and, with an adequate offensive line and leeway to run
the offense, would have taken them to more! Prediction, if a marginal
playoff team or a playoff team picks up Bernie, they definitely go to the
Super Bowl. Good luck to Bernie and thanks for all he's done for
Cleveland. I've been a Browns fan for life, but I really don't know if I
care anymore with BB at the helm. Art should have supported the players
and not BB, a man too stubborn to admit mistakes or, worse, to change them.

P.S. More news on what actually transpired with the whole situation would
be appreciated because we don't get much Browns' news in New Haven. I was
looking forward to maybe going to a playoff game when I got home for winter
vacation...

Look, I am no Belicheck fan but try to get your facts straight. Slaughter
was a holdout, Belicheck has no control over negotiating contracts with
players. Art Modell blew-it and he admitted to it, he played a waitng game
with the courts and the Browns lost Slaughter to free agency. Langhorn was
a stubborn jerk who put himself above the team and deserved to be cut.

Bernie Kosar is one of my alltime favorite Browns players and I pray he gets
a shot with another team. I feel that the Browns are a makeing a horrible
mistake in letting Kosar go, you cannot tell me the Philcox or Goebel for that
matter are better QB's than Kosar. BB refused to allow Kosar some freedom to
make the team go and he is going to pay dearly for his stupidity.

I'd like to SECOND your conveyances to Bernie: "A class Act." I wish him the
best, and hate to see him uplift some other teams' fortunes, but, BB & Art
don't deserve him! Waiting on BB's queue to be purged are the following
people: (IMHO)

Micael Dean Perry
Mike Johnson
Michael Jackson
Jerry Ball (maybe)
Eric Metcalf (if he complains about play calls)
.
.
.
And anyone else who threatens his philosophy (?).

P.S. It's interesting that Art never had any problems firing coaches
before (Paul Brown, Forest Gregg, Marty Schottenhiemer, and other lesser
coaches). Although Marty, and Art disagreed over Marty's play calling,
Art fired him, following gutsy season in which Marty coached the team to
the playoffs using 4 backup QB's -- Bernie had an injured elbow and was
on IR at the time.

IMO, Art has been senile for quite some time now. Art has not the slightest
idea of what it takes to reach/win a SB.

I too am a long time Browns fan, and like yourself am really pissed off that
Kosar was treated the way he was. And after watching Philcox perform on Sunday
I had to turn the game off. I really am glad that Bernie did fairly well with
Dallas and I refuse to watch anymore Browns games until Bellichek is gone. Which
the way that the team is going should be this year some time.

Don't count on it!! For some unknown reason, Modell has really dug in his
heels and is supporting Belichek for all he is worth. You cannot believe the
bad press and feelings that are floating around Cleveland concerning the
*once-loved* Modell. Fans have no mercey, especially when Modell seems to be
condoning the devestation of the team.

Oh well - maybe by the year 2000 we MIGHT be up to where we were at the
beginning of this season.

You know, I am really get sick of all you people stating that you are
"THE TRUE BROWNS FAN!", and oh my god why did they let the "The Superior
Bernie" go. Fact of the matter is that Bernie never won the Big Game to go
to the Super-bowl! Was that Belicheck's fault? No! Well then lets run Marty
out of town for that and clear up all of our problems, right? Bernie was
popular in Cleveland and he could read defenses very well, but myself and
every other Browns fan I knew cringed at the thought of Bernie starting
after Vinnie got hurt. The reason that Bernie did so well this past weekend
is (at least) twofold. i) He had an offensive line that is probably the best
in football in front of him and ii) Phoenix wasn't rushing but three guys all
day. Once Bernie falls back into his mediocre style , then we will all see.
Granted he can read defenses very well, but he needs an open lane to throw in
or the ball gets batted down. Once the pocket collapses, so does he. As far
as BB is concerned, HE IS THE COACH!!! Like it or not, that's the way it is.
Bernie was the quarterback. Art Modell listened when Bernie wanted Marty
booted, what was the result of that, did we win the Superbowl after THAT!?
NO? Then why not? The whole point is that everyone (Browns fans included)
was saying that "Bernie sucks and every team he goes to will suck" while he
was playing for the Browns and when he was cut. But now everyone is ranting
and raving how Bellicheck/bellifuck/bellidick etc, etc, really made a big
mistake by cutting Bernie. I think his big mistakes were, not drafting a QB
two years ago when he had the chance and not just benching Bernie instead of
cutting him. However, when you have a QB that is trying to run the team and
telling the local media that they were out coached by Denver, you can't
have control over the team , which is what you need. John Elway did it by
running Dan Reeves out of town, what a big difference that made, huh? Winning
20 to 3 and then lose at home by a score of 23 to 26!!!!!!! Yeah John,
your troubles are/were all Dan Reeves fault.! If you and any other "Browns
fan" can run the team better, maybe you should apply for the head coaching
job and SHUT UP!!!!!!!!!!! (You are starting to sound like real whiners that
don't really understand football or ther concept of TEAM WORK!!!!)

IMHO of course!!!!!!!!!

For those who think Dan Reeves' coaching made a huge difference in _all_
the Broncos' games, watch replays of last year's "Denver vs. Seattle" game
in Seattle (played on MNF). I love the Broncos, but that was one of the
most inept games I've ever seen anyone play. Seattle (which only won 1
other game the whole year) beat them!

And I might remind you that where you were at the
beginning of this season is a LONG way from where you were when
belichick took the job. You were the laughingstocks of the
NFL, as pitiful as the Bengals or Buccaneers.

IMAO the reason beliupchuck SUCKS is that he is an arrogant dweeb. Beliupchuck
was a brilliant DEFENSIVE coordinator. Sure enough, the browns are quite
solid on defense. Their defensive coordinator is doing a fine job, surely
with some supervision from beliupchuck. However the Browns DO NOT HAVE
AN OFFENSIVE COORDINATOR. Beliupchuck is focusing his attention on managing
the offense, and the result, is in a word, OFFENSIVE. Frankly, I think the
browns would have been far better off if Beliupchuck focused on the
defense, decides who plays quarterback, and let Kosar design the offensive
scheme. Or even better, hire an offensive coordinator.

Beliupchuck running an offense is like the world's greatest psychiatrist
performing a knee operation. He is operating out of his area of expertise.
The Browns are already the laughingstocks of the NFL for dumping Kosar. And
things are only going to get worse for them. Their defense, and Eric
Metcalf's punt returns are the only things which will keep the Browns from
losing the rest of their games this season.

Get a grip! Bill Bellychoke took over the team two years after Browns
played in the AFC title game. There is hardly anything to laugh about
such a team.

In Bill Bellyfluke's first year they were playing a last place
schedule. Bill Bellyflop blew both the first and second round draft
picks in his first year on Eric Turner and Ed King. None of his
project players flourished. He let go the offensive core of the team
without getting even a single draft pick in return. They released Jay
Hilgenberg for monetary considerations, but are now paying Kosar much
more than Jay's salary to play for Dallas. Everybody in the business
of NFL are making fun of him. Now *this* is something to laugh about!
Browns looked a good team in the first two games of the season. Bill
Bellyfloat's inflated ego got in the way. Bill Bellycrook screwed the
season for 47 players and millions of fans just because of his ego. To
sum it up, Bill Bellyquack gave a shaft to his own players and fans
just to gloat over his personal triumph in the power game.

And you don't think the fact that Denver was starting a rookie QB who
would've been a junior in college had he stayed in school, making his
first ever start in the NFL had anything to do with this??

Every team has a bad game... Dallas lost to the Rams at home last year.
SF lost to Phoenix... these games are the exceptions rather than the rule.

Take a look
at the Dallas-Denver game last year with Maddox/Moore at QBs for a more
reasonable view of Reeves coaching.

I find the constant name-calling of the Browns fans to
be vulgar, crass, and a reflection of a profound lack of
class. Can't you at least criticize him without heaping
insults upon him? Geez, it may have only been two years after
the AFC title game, but the year before he took over the Browns
were pitiful. I guess you'll blame that on him too.

And there speaks a person who hasn't a clue as to what has been going on in
Cleveland with Belichick. He is one of the most rude, taciturn, egocentonic
person in the Cleveland area. He makes absolutely no effort to get on with
anyone, not the press, not the fans, and not the players. You have no idea
how many chances Clevelanders have given him to prove himself. Unfortunately,
he has always fallen very short. Classless?? I don't think so, the criticism
is an indication of the frustration of the fans and the media. Deal with
it!!!!!
