Can anybody out there post a brief analysis of the Colts Defense
(e.g., strength and weaknesses)? IMHO there are only a few NFL
defenses who have a real chance at shutting down the Dallas offense
-- the question is, is Indy one of these?

From what I saw yesterday the Colts doesn't have a defense.
Elway and crew just rolled all over them.

Don't let any of the Bronco fans kid you...... they rolled up some very quick
points yesterday on the Colts D that shell shocked the very young defense and
14 of those 28 were set up by turnovers.. But take away that first quarter
you hace Indy winning 13-7. It took them a quarter to adjust their D...

From where I stand this will be a really great game.... These team are both
young and very competitive. Dallas may have the advantage in experience but
Indy will have tht playing the world champions incentive...

The Colts D is definately better that it played yesterday.. They have what
could be argued as one of the best front 7 in the game..and they are
exstreamly underated.. their secondary in also very young and shows holes.
They play hot and cold, when their are hot, their spectacular,, when their
cold their like a sponge cake, you can throw on them all day.

If Dallas doen't want to get in trouble Id try and do what Elawy did score
early and often and take the steam out of their sails.. If it close going
into the 4th quarter give the Colts a fighting chance to pull it out...

Also the one major thing I'd worry about if I we're a Cowboy fan... What If
Jeff George gets the call to start ??? Laugh all you want.... but He looked
pretty good in mop up yesterday and he's still got a cannon where his right
arm suppose to be and several reciever and a big RB that enjoys hitting and
the Colts O-line has only given up 2 sacks all year...

Think about it.. In my book, this could be the game of the week....

Correct me if I am wrong, but didnt Denver have more than 400 yards on
offense ? And Denver's running game that was averaging less than 100
yards a game had something around 190 yards rushing ? Did all this
happen in the first quarter ? A team that lets Denver rush for
190 yards cant be that hot on defense, IMO.
And does anyone else find that argument about "take away the first
quarter..." just a tad lame ? I can use that argument & turn all
losing team into winners.

Get a clue... Washington rolled up 180 yards on Dallas in the first game of
the year... That makes Dallas a shitty D doesn't it.... And by the way Denver
had 124 yards in the 1st quarter.... dael with it..

Lame or not I was trying to prove a point... Taken out of context you'll see
that i was trying to comment that a young D got shell shocked and run over..
get it.. it happean to all teams... ... As for turning losing teams into
winners... Well I guess your just plain too right, Denver is just unstoppable
and.. just hand them to Super bowl rings will' ya....

Calm down Indy fan! Just buckle your seat belt and get ready for a
demolishing by Dallas(UGH! I hate Dallas) and for a subpar season. A win
against the Cleveland Clowns and Cinci Ben-gals doesn't make you good.
Just be ready for the worst which is no doubt yet to come!

You miss my point. Washington has a good rushing game. Denver does
not. Ever since the Bobby Humphrey days I cannot recall when Denver
has been able to consistently run the ball. And then they go run up
190 odd yards. Makes you wonder.

|> had 124 yards in the 1st quarter.... dael with it..

Lets see. Denver had a total offense of 400 odd yards. So that means
they got 300 odd yards in the remaining 3 quarters. On an average 100
yds/quarter. What was your point ?

I agree. And that is what probably did happen. Its a young D & playing
at Mile High isnt a picnic. What I didnt agree with was your initial
statement about how if one were to take away the first quarter the
Colts would have won 13-7. Colts have the potential of having a -very
strong- defense. But they arent there yet.

:) Yup. Sounds like a good idea. (At least someone thinks that Denver
is unstoppable :))

What game were you watching? This game was total annihilation! Denver rolled up
about 500 yards of total offense. They scored TD's on their first four possessions.
Their fifth possession began with about 2:00 left in the half and the Broncos
decided to try to run the clock out with three straight running plays. I knew
this was a mistake. They fumbled on third and long during a run play and that gave
the Colts a FG going into the half. If the Broncos would have run their two minute
offense, the halftime score would have been 35 - 0! The Broncos continued to roll up
the yards in the second half, although scoring only one touchdown. They could have had
field goals on two occassions, but elected not to run up the score. If you take away
the first 28 points the Broncos scored, Indy would NOT have won 13 - 7. It would have
been another blowout because the Broncos would have been motivated ONCE AGAIN.
But being up big late in the game with Tommy Maddox at the helm is rarely going to
produce points for an unmotivated, unchallenged, Bronco team!

DENVER MOVED THE BALL AT WILL!

This is from a bills / falcons fan.

IMHO the only defense in the NFL that has ANY chance in HELL of shutting
down Dallas is KC!
I hate to admit it but Dallas is probably the best team in the NFL this year
they just got it all!

Really? Wow. I think Buffalo's defensive unit is a notch better than KC's.
Buffalo did a pretty good job against the Cowboys earlier this season. Of
course, the Cowboys didn't have Emmitt, but they had lots of other problems
early on anyway - turnovers, motivation, attitude, etc. Buffalo definitely
played them at the right time, but the Buffalo D was effective.

If I was to pick one defense that would be the biggest challenge to Dallas,
I'd pick New Orleans. They seem to be playing pretty tough D.

As a Dallas fan, I'd have to agree! :-)

Denver has been unstoppable for several years...but they always seem to stop
themselves. I have picked Denver to go to the Super Bowl for the past 3 years.
As of now...I give up...GO SEAHAWKS!

ok...maybe not the Seahawks...GO DOLPHINS!

ahhh..forget it...I hate the AFC. They screw me on the football pool every week
Oilers --> Raiders --> Chargers --> Broncos --> Bills --> Dolphins
ohh...yeah...the team with the fossils...Chiefs.

NFC RULES! nope....COWBOYS RULE! yeah...that's it!

See ya!

Actually, the Cowboys ran up ~400 yards against the Bills. It was pure1
self-destruction that kept them from the win.
