Haven't had a chance to read it thoroughly yet but, 1 glaring omission I did
notice--no rookie review by Mel Kiper! What gives?
Also noticed lots of great articles by many of the regulars in here (Greg
Kellog, Terry Cannon, Mike Nazarek) and their annual experts rankings
(congratulation to Mike for winning last year).
any other opinions on the mag?
PS - also noticed the price went up ($6.99)

Uh, that's not good if you want to see the magazine again. Less ads mean
Thank goodness.

You really think Ad revenues are that important to a magazine with an audited
distribution count of 650,000?

It's easy to predict the top 5 or so players at each position but after that
these "experts" are just throwing darts at a board. The do not understand
football, fantasy or otherwise, better than any other informed fan of the game.
These magazines are the tool of the hopelessly uninformed and desperate. Just
say NO.

Thanks a ton for the kind words. Much appreciated. Obviously, my friend
Emil Kadlec puts out a great magazine and this year isn't any different.
However, if you are interested in taking the Value Based System further, I'm
doing a series of articles on the KFFL site this Summer.
It's called Bryant's Chalk Talk.

Thanks.

Actually they go to press quite a bit after the draft. My articles for them
were due in May for Draftbook (though it got moved) and June 10 for the later
magazines. You can figure that the info is about 30 days old when the mag
is published. But for all of you here that don't need/want them, there are
thousands that don't have internet access that do. As to how much money
they make the publishers, hey this is America and I could care less. But
if you think it is easy cash, here's a proposition...write and publish your
own magazine. FFPF has a distribution of 650,000 folks. That IS a lot of
money IF it all went to the publisher. It doesn't, but if you want to put
out thousands of dollars to publish a magazine, well, I'll buy a copy. But
only if you promise to autograph it.
I like the publishers that I know. No one hurts more than Emil Kadlec when
something in one of his magazines isn't perfect. But to get the most up to
date info he can (even if it is late) requires some tradeoffs. Greg Ambrosius
of Fantasy Sports (Krause Publications), Dan and Kelly Grogan of Grogan Sports
and Josh Albert of JTD Publishing have all treated me great. It really annoys
me that some of you, who have never published a thing in your lives, jump all
over minor mistakes. Before you buy, browse the magazine. If something in
it is so terrible that it annoys you so much you feel the need to slander the
magazine and it's publisher, then DON'T BUY IT.
Sorry, nothing personal...just my vent for the day.
How about you GURU GUYS try posting good info, good questions,
insights, or even decent conversation. If you really are GURUS we'll
all recognize it over time. If not then your just joe schmo and its not
a big deal?
