Abstract art has become a generic brand. I believe that
people buy it because it is so much easier than actually
looking for something that required talent to produce.
Hey, the colors are cool, nobody asks about it because
they don't understand it or like anymore than I. This
is why it covers the walls of businesses and doctor's
offices.
Some people will laugh at your Rockwell or one of the
masters pictures hanging on the wall as being "cliche'"
throw a piece of crap Pollock up there and you have
taste.

It's still all about Edward Hopper. heh De Chirico, too. But donut care
about Pollock.....
Did you see that story about the little girl who threw some paint on some
paper....then they took it to a snooty art show and the critics were raving
about it. (I think it was a John Stossel thing?) When they broke the news
to the critics that it was an elementary student, they tried to backpedal
with "She's a genius then!" blah blah It was pretty funny.

If someone ever asks about one of these paintings
"What the hell is that supposed to be?", just sigh,
roll your eyes and say one of the following:
- "This represents 'Man's Inhumanity To Man.'"
- "This is clearly 'Third World Angst.'"
- "The artist is trying to capture Heidegger's early works on canvas."
- "This powerful piece is a commentary on the right wing's attack
on the poor. The little dog turds represent George Bush's dismantling
of Social Security."
- "I have no idea. Looks like dog turds smeared on a canvas to me."

In fairness, some modern art looks pretty cool, just don't tell me
it represents something profound.

The only way to do this would be to paint a giant aspirin tablet which
refused to be swallowed.

Personally I just like pictures of nekkid women showing their boobies. I
think that is all the art I need to see.
