whoopsie! I got 19.

"Between 12 and 15 is average.
Celebrities often score closer to 18.
Narcissists score over 20.
Because you scored 18 or higher, you may want to check out the symptoms of narcissistic personality disorder. "

21...some of those questions can go either way. I opted for the 'worse' answer if I'd ever even had the thought.

9. I'm kind of disappointed with that. A lot of those questions don't seem to be about Narcissism per-se. Or maybe I don't understand narcissism as well as I thought I did. And I'm really too lazy to look it up.

The main problem with this test is that it is outdated. If it had more modern questions, I think we'd score higher, for example:

Do you like to re-read arguments I've posted online
Do you google yourself often
Do you enjoy reading your own social profiles (e.g., Linkedin, Facebook, etc)
Do you try to post things online that get a lot of responses.

etc.

I also had a 3. However, I'm with XYZZY in assuming it is borked. I'd like to think I'm humble enough, but jeez ...

The content of the questions shouldn't matter much in terms of an obvious relationship with being narcissistic.... just that they tend to have a high entropy score when comparing sets of labeled data.

It could well be that answering yes to "did you have an unusually pleasant day today?" tends to be the strongest indicator of narcissism. Or something liked that.

It could be. But it isn't. And I don't think that had anything to do with the composition of those questions. I think it's just a shitty test.

The ultimate question would be something like 'do you think of yourself
and/or look in the mirror while pleasuring yourself?'

Well, I didn't score 40. But the test is not what it claims to be IMO.
I believe people who scored high don't much care what most others
think - maybe a few. I think the test is more a measure of
self-confidence and assertiveness based on the results of one's past
performance.

To enjoy seeing yourself in the mirror is narcissistic - knowing
almost with absolute certiany that you will succeed if you accept
leadership responsibility is not.

Yes, I know the definition and I don't care what F and W thinks.

Do you have to get in the last word in internet spats?
Do you find yourself spending hours a day on internet arguments?
Have you missed an event because you were too busy fuming about an internet argument?

When a natural event prevents you from doing something, do you take it personally?

I think the URL probably says all I need to know so I won't bother to
read.

I think "special" is reserved for those who are well-regarded by
people who have actually watched their performance in leadership
roles. I think narcissism is reserved for people who are more
impressed with their appearance than their performance.

To me the challenge is to NOT dress the part but get their attention
anyhow. If you "really got it" you don't need a head start.

Northwestern and liberalism doesn't impress me, but your ability with
puns gets my respect.

24 is stupid.
I do both---often and well and whole-heartedly.

39 is stupid. Both apply equally to me.

19, and fuck them. I deserve 40.
