My dad will turn 80 next year. I've had (and still have) disagreements
with him, but we still get along fine...
Recently though, I have started to worry about the fact that we probably
don't have THAT many more years to talk, and I just regret that I
haven't kept in touch as much as I should. I see my own boys growing up
(both the fuckers are - way - taller than me now...) and I sorta relate
to my dad even more!

Good for you, dude - I am sure that your old man appreciates it (almost
as much as you do).

HBD to your dad. I'm sure he's about as thrilled as you are to be
taking you to your oncology appts. Being a parent is tough job that
never ends.

1) It was lunch.
2) You do remember that I'm on Social Security Disability, right? It's
not like I could afford much better. We normally have fast food for
lunch after an appointment.

Pay the boy no mind, David... he's just reveling in being as much of a
jerk as possible and probably fanning himself with glee that he's better
off financially than you are.
Sounds like you had a cool day with your dad... wish mine lived close
enough to take out to lunch! :)

I got to hang with him two days in a row - with the next day being
Thanksgiving and all.
Next month, the oncology appointment is on the 23rd, we get together for
Christmas Eve the next day and he's taking me to the airport on the 28th
for my little trip (basically to grab anything that might not get
through screening - worried about my insulin specifically).
