Correct Dave, I did notice that mistake along with two others which
the netters will catch. I checked it very fast before I sent it and
3-4 mistakes got through the cracks. Sorry.
When I get through compiling more data, I will most MY pre-season
first and second All-American team.

Colorado didn't get any of these players, yet had the highest-rated
recruiting class in the conference. And even though CU didn't sign any
other player your article said they were recruiting (listed below), nor
any player mentioned at all in your article (the in-state players are
listed further below), they ended up with a recruiting class ranked
between 5th and 10th nationally, I believe.

Kevin,
No....this is THIS years high school seniors that are thinking of
signing with Colorado. This is something I will be periodically updating
until FEB. 93. You are bringing this past recruiting season to this
years high school senior list. Sorry if you were confused.

Huh. He can't be two places at the same time in the same category.
Sure he can... he's VERY fast! :) 14.3 in the 110 H-Hurdles this spring.
Scott is the most talented high school QB I have ever seen. He is
kind of like a Todd Marinovich but with running ability and brains.
He was second in the class C 110 high hurdles by .02 sec this spring
and won the shot put. He also qualified for the state meet in the 100
and 220. USA Today named Scott the Nebraska HS male athlete of the
year each of the last two years. Scott is an academic honors student
with a near 4.0 GPA, and is president of the Student Council and the
National Honor Society. Scotts parents are both teachers and coaches.
His dad is the football coach at WR (although his mom calls the plays
from the announcers box!) and his mom is the track coach (she was an
Olympic athlete). Scott's older brother (2yrs) Steve is a center on
the team at Colo. State for Earle Bruce. NU wanted Steve to walk on,
but Earle offered a full ride, and Steve accepted. I hear rumors
there is still some resentment in the family about that, and that
their dad has commented that Scott may go somewhere than NU. A lot of
the people at WR have commented that it might be better for Scott if
he went somewhere else, like Stanford or ND. Although I would love to
see Scott play at NU, I tend to agree. The pressure in Lincoln can be
incredible, particulary for a local player.
Anyway, keep your ears open, this kids one of the very best of the blue
chippers! And from a small town in Nebraska. Amazing!

Besides that, they don't THROW the ball. (Ref quote from Coach Tom a few

^^^^^^
This is a big improvement. Can you do anything about the ego problem?
That is a problem he doesn't share with Marinovich. He's a really nice kid.
>His dad is the football coach at WR
This is a bad sign. Are we talkin' robo-boy again?
No. He has an older brother that is also an excellent athlete and
that changes things a bit. Things aren't as focused as they were for
Marinovich. I think Marinovich was an only child and was raised in a
single parent environment as well. In Scotts case I have heard
(remember... this is a VERY small town!) that his mom does more of the
coaching than his dad.

Besides that, they don't THROW the ball. (Ref quote from Coach Tom a few

True. Scott is a tremendous athlete who probably would excel at QB at
most any school. I just think he would be wise to look at the big
picture (i.e., life after football) and get the best education
available to him. He is in a very unique situation that most kids his
age can only dream about. I hope he makes the best of it.
