While I hope it doesn't come to this, MoPar is right as rain on this one.

What happened? Did she get pissed b/c you gave the squirrel more
attention or something?
Dude, "everything" isn't better. This storm has passed.
Time to make some changes. Yea, you have to go to counseling.

Great news, but....seriously....hit the counseling NOW while
everything is still fresh.

true... easier to kick someone out than it is to put yourself on the
street.
That would be a *horrible* mistake. Chances are she would get custody
of the kids in a divorce, and that means he is going to be moving out
anyway. When the marriage is in trouble and someone "packs a
suitcase", it's almost always the man and for good reason. If winnard
leaves with his suitcase, there is a chance things can be worked out a
few days later or a week later or whatever. If he had *made* her
leave(through any method) then it's over for good and there is no going
back....and like I said she probably gets the house anyways(or it would
have to be sold) so it's silly...........
counseling can be expensive, and(since finances seem to be one of the
main problems), this may just make the situation worse.
I think it's time to make some changes...I'm not sure counseling is the
answer, depending on the options and coverage available.

I packed my suitcase 7 weeks ago, and I'm still living at my friends
house.

Well, start a new thread and tell your story. I'm in the mood to help.
I never cease to be amazed at what you feel qualified to give advice!
WTF do you know about separations or divorces?
Good grief! If you have no experience in the matter, STHU, please.

The only downside here is that I had to buy out my ex-wife's share
of the house, saddling me (yee-haw!) with a huge ass mortgage. But
no, you don't kick me out of the house.

winnard,
My wife and I are in marriage counseling right now and I must say I was
skeptical at first because I had always heard that it was the first
step toward divorce. But, after three sessions I have to say that it's
helped immensely. We have a counselor that is biased toward keeping
people together, as opposed to some therapists that are biased toward
moving people apart. This is a fact of therapy. So, if you give it a
shot, make sure to understand what sort of bias the therapist has,
before you start.
My wife is my best friend, but we have a big problem with conflict
resolution. We both have minor disorders that have effected our
relationship over the years and it's been helpful to have a medical
professional let us know that there are a couple of mild medications we
can both take that will remove a lot of the stress we have built up
recently. We will take these medications temporarily to get over this
hump, then, we hope that through conflict resolution counseling, we
should be able to work through arguments without trying to kill each
other or packing bags, etc.
Do everything you can to keep your marriage alive and burning with
passion dude. I've been with Maria for 16 years. We just got off a
vacation in Sausalito, CA that was one of our best trips in years. We
had one stressful moment, but, we were both able to laugh it off
because we had had a couple of bottles of wine and realized that it was
the result of being inebriated and had nothing to do with reality.
Our counselor also made a point during our fiirst session to state
plainly how successful and happy marriages last forever. There is a
simple calculation. The metaphor is a shared bank account you have with
your wife. There must be five deposits (good things; sharing, happy
times) to every one deduction (argument or some other bad moment). This
metaphor is always in the back of my mind (and Maria's) now whenever we
are interacting together. It's made a difference. I try to think of the
little things I can do to deposit to our shared account, and, when I
start thinking about making some sort of asshole comment or smartass
remark; I rethink it because I don't want to deduct from the account.
Simple? Yep. Works? Definitely.
Good luck.
