I got this info out of the Buffalo Sports News (1-800-GET-BUFF). All typos
are mine exclusively.
The main theme of this recruiting class is speed. No outstanding speed (<4.4)
but all fairly fast at their respective possitions, including a DL player who
runs a 4.7 40. Only one linebacker was recruited which could be a problem.
The four RBs is definitely a relief after Warrens decision to go pro left CU
with one RB.

... any quarterbacks?
--J.(just wondering)J.
None. McCartney said they only tried recruiting some of the top QB's (Josh
Booty, Larry Oliver and Keith Smith) and that QB won't be a priority until
next year. CU will be pretty deep at QB next year (probably one of the reasons
the QB's didn't commit to CU). CU'll have seniors Kordell Stewart, and
Vance Joeseph, in addition to Koy Detmer plus two unproven walk ons, John
Hessler and Ayyub Abdul-Rahmaan.

It's a fast class, although not quick, from what I see. There are two
real problems with this class:
1) 2 wideouts. CU needs more receivers.
2) no QBs at all. OTOH, to qoute a T-shirt that was running around last
year here on campus: "Don't be Koy, we still have THE BOY."
>Rafael Cooper (C) (6-0, 195, 4.4) Detroit, MI
Story I heard about this kid is that after they finished second in the
Detroit public championships, he took the trophy and asked his teammates
if they were satisfied with second place. He then personally took
a sledgehammer to it.

Speed on the defensive line. We need that.

I moseyed down the Hill last semester and watched a Boulder
High game. This kid is amazing. On the other hand, he could be
just like that one kid from Longmont we recruited a while back.
Gee, what was his name??

How many does CU need? In addition to the two very highly rated recruits, CU
has Rae Carruth, James Kidd, Michael Westbrook, TJ Cunningham, and Phillip
Savoy. I think seven WR on one team is plenty. Van Buren is supposed to be
talented enough to be the next Charles Johnson.

In a previous post I listed all five QB's CU has. CU should be fine this coming
season with 2 seniors (Stewart, Joeseph), So. Koy Detmer, and two unproven
QB's John Hessler and Ayyub Abudul-Rahmaan. Backups for Koy in 95 are the
real concern.

This is the attitude CU was missing last year. The pure disgust with losing
and coming up short, hopefully this is contagious. If CU ends up in a Toilet
Bowl again in 94 they better keep the trophy away from this kid :)

This young man can flat out PLAY. He's broken just about all of the
receiving records in California and had some TREMENDOUS years here.
I ran into him once at a game, very impressive looking athlete. 5-11,
180 may be a bit understated. I think he might be 6-0 or 6-1 and 180
seems a bit light, but I could be wrong.

Can't wait for the chants when CU goes up 57-7 in the third against
NE Louisiana. "AYYUB! ABDUL! RAHMAAN!!!!!!!!" (To the tune of O! C!

Heard that they are shopping for a QB coach. Koy's father Sonny has
interviewed, along with Galen Hall. Either one and an Orange Bowl would
get the next Koy Detmer to campus...
