I was just wondering if anyone could tell me the difference between Uhlman
and Allstar equipment. I have heard that Allstar is the American branch
of the same company that markets Uhlman in Germany. Regardless, what I am
really interested in is wether there is any significant difference in fit
or dimensions of the wearable stuff...

Thanks,

Dave

Allstar has red trim and Uhlmann has blue trim. They are both sized in the
metric system and are probably compatible. I know personally that there is no
difference in the construction of the masks. There may be some other
differences I don't know of.

Allstar and Uhlmann may in fact be made by the same manufacturer but
there are differences, at least in the fit of the women's uniforms.
Uhlmann tends to be a little longer and straighter in their jackets and
knickers, more "boxy" if you will. Allstar, on the other hand, and
Triplette are really the only manufacturers that make jackets and
knickers, I find, that fit women with substantial curves. The
differences in my bust, waist, and hip measurements are enough that if
an Uhlmann jacket fits in the chest, it's usually too long in the sleeve
and a little too long in the torso, and baggy around the waist. Similar
problem for the knickers. Allstar and TCA both are made for women with
these kinds of curves. A friend described the difference as "Uhlmann's
are made for boxy German women, and Allstar for curvy French women"
How all this translates to men's uniforms, I don't know......

An Allstar electric vest of mine had the zipper at the back and my current
Uhlmann vest has it on the front. I do not know of any big differences
though.

Uhlmann was acquired by Allstar a few years back. Some of their products
are still distinct (e.g., reels and scoring machines, mask testers),
some are essentially identical except for the color of the trim and the
logo (masks, gloves). As far as uniforms go, they are of basically the
same design (Uhlmann 'World Cup' corresponds to Allstar 'Athens',
Uhlmann 'Olympia' corresponds to Allstar 'Startex'), but there is a
difference in cut; Allstar uniforms tend to have a fairly trim cut,
whereas Uhlmann uniforms are made fuller in the body.

Uhlmann and AllStar are two different companies, both based in Germany. I
was under the impression that AllStar bought out Uhlmann at one time. That
doesn't appear to be the case.

Uhlmann is based in Laupheim and AllStar in Reutlingen. Perhaps Frank Mesmer
from AllStar (or is that Uhlmann? :-)) can give more corporate structure
information.

Lastly, AllStar is red and Uhlmann is blue.

AllStar also makes side-zipped lames and Uhlmann makes back-zipped lames
as well.

They way I hear it, one of the two (I think Uhlman) is the opriginal
company, while the other is owned by the founder's son. They;re both
German companies. Allstar just opened a US branch recently.

I think the differance on the clothing is the Allstar stuff's cut for a
slimmer frame, which the Uhlman's a bit looser.

Comments, any one?
