Sounds like a bribe. Be wary.

Accepting and soliciting gifts is no way for officials to be seen as
professional. That's much worse than having a beard.

---if you check the subject line...the gift was for the Director of
Competition of the UOA.....
NOT for a game official.

That's even worse.

Also, I take it this means you will recuse yourself from officiating
any game in which UNT (or any team that sends a gift) competes, up to
and including the finals?

---how?
you think can alter a 8 team round robin format to favor them?

No, I don't think you can alter the format to favor them. However,
having the head of officials influenced by gifts, and passing down
both the influence and the acceptance of those gifts to other
officials is much worse than just having one official accepting the
gifts. Just the appearance and possibility of impropriety is enough
to suspect slanted officiating, regardless of the source or official.

> having the head of officials influenced by gifts

---cool.
we'll be sure NOT to let the head of officials receive any gifts from
visiting teams.
we'll be sure ALSO...that if the head of officials DOES receive any
gifts, that he WILL NOT be influenced by them.

, and passing down

---huh?
spreading the wealth is much worse than the Director of Competition
keeping all the gifts???

---whoa....i'd better start communicating with all the teams to make
sure they bring their team gifts with them when they travel to
Wilmington for the 4 seperate UOA 8s Tournaments!!!!
