After seeing some pretty weak shit this weekend I thought I would
talk
a little bit about proper trash talk etiquette. If you are not
actually playing then you can do whatever you want and its fair game.
HOWEVER, if you are on the opposing team and your talking shit to
someone please back it up. Don't talk shit and hide on the
sidelines. Don't talk shit and guard someone else. If your going to
do it...then fucking man up and show up!!! GOLLY!!! This was my
first witness of this weak sauce action and hopefully these people
(you know who you are) actually man up and stop being bitches.

Any questions??? I would gladly respond.

What exact type of smack talk was spoken here, Brodie?

If this guy said something like: "You (as an individual) can't hang
with me," or "I'll shut you down," then didn't match up with you, then
he deserves little respect.

On the other hand, if he said something like: "We are going to beat
you," then this is more of a gray area. A smack talk along those
lines is more of a general team-wide challenge; where a player can
basically ride their teammates coat tails without necessarily having
to back it up with individual play-although that would of course add
to his credibility.

The trash talk was more childish than anything. Stupid comments
coming from people that don't have my respect to begin with.
Word for the wise...If you make a team and hold tryouts and then cut
people and those people you cut form their own team and you later play
that team and you lose...???? um how is that possible???

Who are you talking about? Are we supposed to know who this is?

As far as how this is possible, I think you already know the answer.

Alright... Let's clarify this entire situation right now...

Brodie tried out for Ronin, agreed to the commitment necessary to be a
part of an elite level club team, and was accepted onto the team.
Obviously, Brodie is an extremely talented player that could greatly
improve any team.

One question that exists, is what do you do with primadonnas? In the
course of the four months of preseason before the series started
before this, Brodie attended 2, maybe 3 practices, and one savage
tournament. After all this ridiculously poor attendance record, we
still retained him because, well, he's Brodie.

After a very strong showing at Chesapeake (without Brodie), tied for
5th place, we had a local Florida tournament the week later. We didn't
take the Tampa team, UpRoar, seriously and were upset in semis. UpRoar
did have about 4 or 5 players that we had cut and a ton of really
tall, athletic, University of South Florida (they might make noise)
players. And they proved their playing ability by finishing 2nd at
Florida Sectionals.

So, one week before Sectionals, Brodie is still on the roster,
seemingly with intentions to stay a part of a team with Club Nationals
aspirations. He had even confided to a teammate on the trip home from
practice (1 of the few he did attend) that he was going to stick it
out and buy his flight to Regionals. Tuesday was the last day to edit
rosters. So, Monday night without warning and without consulting any
of the captains or explaining anything, Brodie removes himself from
the roster. Talk about "manning up", eh?? Can't even face the music of
his own captains and teammates...

So, in reply to Brodie's shit-talking about losing to a team with
players that you cut... that means nothing. Teams have off days, teams
have strong days. I'm pretty sure that Ronin played out of their mind
and Bravo wasn't prepared when we beat them at Chesapeake. It is like
waking a sleeping beast. UpRoar did the same thing, and backed up
their victory with a strong Sectionals showing.

So, Brodie is a player who doesn't respect his teammates or captains.
I don't know why you wouldn't respect teammates or captains on a team
you agreed to be a part of initially. He is "giving lessons" on proper
shit-talking from the sidelines. Man, everything is fair game when
you're a freakin' quitter!! There were plenty of guys willing to put
in more time and effort to be a part of this TEAM! Ultimate is a TEAM
sport!!!

I would much rather have a true TEAM than having to handle
primadonnas. I'll even go so far as to say that Ronin is better
without Brodie!

I'd held my tongue. I supported Brodie when he wasn't attending
practices and other teammates were bitching about him not being
around. And he repays me by walking out on me? He has no honor!

What is "childish" is that Brodie opens his mouth on a public forum
looking for support for a situation he brought upon himself!!

I rarely post on this forum anymore, and I had restrained myself until
Brodie actually attacked me and my teammates. He deserves no respect
from anyone for quitting and switching teams at the last minute like
that. I have lost so much respect for him as a person it saddens me.

Wait...I am not real familiar with what is going on here, but was this
Brodie character playing for one of those other teams at Sectionals??
B/C if so, I would say that Ronin could have had anyone guarding him
and would have been fine, given that their closest game was a 15-8 win
in the quarters. Individual trash talking or not, the team backed it
up plenty.

And if Brandon's portrayal of the situation is accurate, I would say
that any trash talking, childish or not, from anyone, in regards to
the aforementioned situation, is completely justified.

Just my thoughts on the situation.

brandon your just crying about the situation bc you realize now you
have no chance at getting to nationals now that your best player left.

And word on the street is brodie wasnt the only player who quit your
team despite your quality leadership as a captain.

So my words of advice for you are.... maybe you should spend more time
practicing, trying to find a girlfriend, or reading some leadership
books rather than wasting your life away on RSD.

A good start to finding that girlfriend is prolly moving out of your
mom's house and getting a real life.....

just an outside perspective,

My Mom is reading over my shoulder right now (even though the basement
is supposed to be my space), and she says you shouldn't call posting
on rsd a "waste" of life when you yourself are posting on rsd, and
that plenty of cool guys live with their mothers. My Mom also says
that if Brandon is not ready for a girlfriend, you shouldn't pressure
him to go get one. Then again, my Mom also is telling me to go kill
that nice girl in the shower of the motel we run together.

Sounds pretty lame, but some context would be nice if you are going to
begin some drama on RSD.

As an aside, you should give the person you are talking shit about an
opportunity to respond before acting indignant. An hour on a public
forum or newsgroup is not enough. Give it a day or two-- consider
that he did reply and you haven't responded within the hour window you
gave him.

Manners, people. Manners.

Seriously Brodie? Seriously?

I have to say I was expecting more out of you. I hope you realize
sometime soon how classless your attendance, Roster shenanigans, and
this thread make you appear. It is/was all pretty disrespectful
dude. I was one of the guys vouching for you in your absences. You
could be one the best players in the game but it seems you may lack
the fortitude and maturity that it will take to make you that player.

I, for one, said nothing to you this weekend. I didn't talk trash to
you once. I didn't even say anything after out running/jumping you to
your own called deep iso. Grow up Brodie. There are players that are
better than you, even on Ronin.

Scoreboard.

Just to end this.

All i was saying is if you are going to talk shit...not heckle...but
talk shit than man up and play. Don't go and guard one of my
freshmen.

And if you actually care to know why I quit (no one probably does but
just in case). I didn't have the $$$ to fly out to Austin and i
really wasn't feeling the "Spirit of the Game" on Ronin.

Sorry for messing up your blog dar.

Really? You quit because you didn't have money? Funny that this was
apparently never communicated to Brandon, your captain. "Manning up"
includes communicating to your captains about when and why you are
unable to make the same commitments your teammates are making.

What about all those practices you missed? Did you not have gas
money, or were you too busy working at the job you apparently don't
have?

By the way, your last post contains the language: "just to end this."
What makes you think that you get to end this thread? We'll let you
know when we're done.

To be fair, one of the other players who quit quit not because of bad
leadership, but to start a professional unicycling career, or maybe to
start a new job, or maybe to get shoulder surgery, or maybe to do a
triathlon...seriously, a real one. (but most likely because he stole
700 bucks from his teammate.)
