It will definitely be interesting to see how things unravel as
cultimates grip on college ultimate seems to be loosening.

Personally ive ALWAYS favored tha smaller, quality over quantity
format and even believ that the traditional tourny format is another
reason ultimate is unwatchable and suffers on an entertainment level..

I mean, when ya have a weekend long tourny of ANY particular sporting
event part of the specialness is gone from the start. Its just that,
one, torrnies are often too overwhelming in that there is just a sea
of games going on with no real order. The other thing is when there
are so many opportunities to come watch a game its easier to blow it
off alltogether. BUT IF YA KNOW THERE IS JUST ONE GAME.......like the
uoa boys are proposing with their carolina league concept, then there
is even more draw and urgancy on the part of the would be spectator to
attend.

Now once the sport becomes formated for more single game opportunities
THAT is when it will probably become better recieved by the average
sports fan and/or x-ultimate player.

Its just too bad that uncw isnt in that league as i would love to go
see a uncw/ecu night game at brooks field in their soccer complex. of
which, wouldnt most colleges be able to secure a primere field with
lights, scoreboard, etal(dare i say dance squad) alot easier if it
were just for one game?

This is one thing I think most people will agree with you -- if the
financing and time were there, I'm pretty sure most teams would rather
play one game a time, every few days/every week. Unfortunately,
tournaments are the only cost-effective way of getting enough games in
to prepare yourself for the season.

which kinda brings us back to the ref debate. if you subscribe to
youth director tiina booths' theory that refs would open doors for
varsity INclusion.....which would undoubtedly come with the funding to
facilitate said format. its all cyclical

 Unfortunately,

but its also because nationals is formated that way too......so
essentially teams have to train for multiple game tournies.......AND
carry 27 man rosters.

It might be a whole different story competitively with 16 man rosters
and single game formats too........AND maybe a lot more entertaining.
