You know why?

It's because I watched a video of some guy eating some and I decided it's
not for me.

.
.
.

I was playing ultimate tonight with some guy and asked him if I could rope
him into a hoops game at some point, his response was "I've seen your video
and decided the game's not for me".

Is this you?

Have you also formed an opinion about whether or not hoops is for you based
on watching my video? Or better yet, have you let other people form your
opinion for you?

I couldn't tell whether or not I snowboarding was for me by watching videos,
I had to try it out for myself.

Let me clue you into to something: I didn't release the video to convince
anyone to give hoops a try. Judging by the response I got out of the player
tonight, I've accomplished exactly what I intended in releasing it. Welcome
to the First Church of Ultimate...

I've read descriptions of a game; I've read the rules; i've watched it;
but all of this is insufficient to decide whether i want to play.
Genious.

Same reasoning, of course, proves why we should all mainline heroin
before deciding it's not for us.

Well, judging by the title of the video, " The Cure A Forest (Disc
Hoops Promo Video)" that is what you were doing. Correct me if I'm
wrong but the word PROMO implies that you want people to look at your
video and want to try disc hoops. However because some guy decides
that it's not for him because he saw your video you get pissed. That
is the world of advertising....you win some and you loose some. Let it
go. You aren't really helping your Disc Hoops cause by crying about
it. I mean you wining about some guy who doesn't want to try it really
makes me want to try Disc Hoops.

You don't need to be negative about it. Stay positive and hang in
there. For most individuals that play disc sports, they got into it
because of the people. If my friends were all playing Disc Hoops and
having a good time, I would want to try it. If they are all being
bitchy and pissy, then it's not for me. I think that's the same effect
you have on most people on RSD. from what I've read from your post
about DH, you are a bitter, bitter man toward ultimate. I think you
are better then that and can rise up and get people to play it because
it's fun and good people play it.

Just a thought really.

Wow.

I watched the video, and it seems to me you intend to subject people to
listening to douche-bag music and to watching a bunch of chumps
walking/jogging around a field.

Disc Hoops looks incredibly lame.

Man, I was prepared to like chocolate ice cream...

But the guy trying to sell me the chocolate ice cream was so obnoxious
I decided against it. See, I like vanilla ice cream, but all this guy
was telling me was how vanilla ice cream sucks, I'm a fool for
enjoying it, and if I don't acknowledge chocolate ice cream is in all
ways superior I am close-minded. Apparently, this ice cream guy used
to make vanilla, probably the best vanilla ever according to him, but
became disillusioned because his competitors used underhanded business
tactics to drive him out (though their product was of course inferior).
Oh, and he also took credit for inventing the waffle cone and the
double scoop, and supposedly has the best recipe for apple crisp ever.
Anyway I wish this guy would stop posting to alt.ice-cream.vanilla
about how great chocolate ice cream is, and just go enjoy his chocolate
ice cream in peace. Or just get a chocolate bar, and quit trying to
make ice cream into something it's not.

I take offence to that. Karl Doege flies millions of gallons of
chocolate icecream to over thirty different Third World countries (six
of which he is emperor of, three of those inside the continental United
States) every eight weeks. His only requirement is that the recipients
of the ice cream try something new each time they eat a bowl. Sure, it
may seem pushy, but he's so generous in his offer.

That would CERTAINLY explain what's all over Karl's face then:

Can we please bash this some more? I'm not being sarcastic; I'm just
not mean enough to do it myself but enjoy reading it.

Why don't you create a disc hoops group and post there? No one seems to
like you. Or at least your supporters don't speak.

Frank, I feel many people agree with me when i say that i have one real
motivation for not playing dischoops.

let's make an equation out of it.

let's say p = you bantering incessantly on rsd
f = you
d = dischoops
y = the thought of playing dischoops
and finally r = the desire to scoop my eyes out with a wooden spoon

so, frank, in my mind i associate you very closely with dischoops, or
in terms of this equation f ~ d
~

and every time i see one of your classic posts on rsd, i get the
strangest urge to scoop my eyes out with a wooden spoon (so as to
distract myself through intense pain)

p ----> r

then we see that the thought of dischoops eventually leads to the
thought of playing dischoops d ----> y

and that i inevitably associate you with your bantering
f ~ p
~

so thus i conclude that, because of an intricate web of association,
the thought of playing dischoops gives me an urge to csause myself
bodily injury

y ----> r

and that's mostly thanks to you

its logic buddy, get a clue

So, I watched the video. Well, about half of it, then the shitty
camerawork made me stop. I hope no one spent money making it, that
would be a real shame.

Based on what I saw, I believe Dischoops would be much better if the
rules allowed tackling. I believe that this change, combined with my
unique skill set would make me a force to be reckoned with on the
Dischoops field. The game would then be much better in every way, and
I might spend your $250 to play it.

Still, I must admit that my motive for playing would really be getting
a chance to tackle the stupid dick who doesn't understand that crying
about how much he sucks at ultimate won't change it.
