Berkeley beat Northwestern by 1 I heard. I think San Diego rolled. The
only pool to keep its original seedings!
Pool B:
UC Davis (3)
Brown (1)
UC Santa Cruz (2)
UCSB (forfeited -- only 6 players) (4)
In this pool, UCD beat Brown, Brown crushed UCSC, and UCSC won by 1
over UCD...after a point differential for the 3-way tie, this was the
order...crazy.
Pool C:
Oregon (3)
Stanford A (1)
Tufts (2)
Washington (4)
Oregon took over the #3 seed by beating both tufts and stanford by 1
in hard caps...great games.
Pool D:
Carleton (2)
Penn State (3)
UBC (1)
Chico (4)
Carleton beat UBC by 1, Penn State by 2, and Chico by 4. Had to be the
tightest pool of the weekend.
Feature Games (between #1s, didn't count for Sunday)
Carleton over Oregon...15-8 ish?
UCSD over Davis...15-3 ish?
Pre-quarters:
UCSC over Berkeley by 1.
Penn State over Tufts.
Brown over Northwestern.
Stanford A over UBC 15-10.
Quarters:
Oregon over Penn State in a pretty close one...I think Oregon likes
those =)
Davis over UCSC easily...15-3?
UCSD over Brown.
Stanford over Carleton 15-8.
Semis:
Davis over Oregon 15-10?
UCSD over Stanford 15-9.
Finals:
UCSD over Davis 15-8? It was even all through the first half, then SD
got into their game and took the last 3 points to take it to 8-7.
Davis couldn't break their zone. I think SD played zone the rest of
the game and ended up winning it easily...
Overall, it was an awesome tournament. Tons of 'upsets,' (although
it's obvious seedings didn't really hold much clout going in...we
tried to make sure there was inter-regional/coastal play, and had to
make a lot of guesses about teams)lots of close games, really good
spirit all around...This year is going to be a battle for the
championship, and many of the teams who'll be in that battle were here
this weekend.
Awesome weekend. great weather. best stanford invite i've ever been
to.
