Australian cricket player Shane Warne is a druggie. Shane Warne told the
public when he got caught his mother gave him steroids.
He was suspended for a year IIRC but he deserved to be banned from cricket
forever.
Undetectable designer steroids are available in USA, Aus, UK to name a few
countries for a long time.
Barry Bonds and many other baseball athletes have been taking undetectable
designer steriods for a long time as per news reports.
Mark McGwire one of the baseball greats took steroids in the 80s and 90s.
Shane Warne and other Australian cricket players in all likelyhood are
taking undetectable designer steriods for years and only Shane
Warne got caught due to bad luck or by chance.

that time legally available over the counter, he even had the bottles

I think the difference is that Galvin et al (we're not guessing with
Galvin -- he gave testimonials for the elixer of of Brown-Sequar,
while with Ruth, best I can tell it's all second hand reports.)
is that there was no reason to be sure what they were doing
was performance enhancing. It could have been any of the myriad
forms of snake oil going around.
