Ordinarily, I would've picked the blogger to be the plagiarist. But
Dr. Abbasi's publishing standards are known to be lower than those of
your average anonymous Usenet poster.

I read the cricinfo blog yesterday and was wondering at the drastic
reduction in the nonsense count for the usual Kamran Abbasi article.
Now I get it.
Shameless copycat, this Abbasi guy could only be a quack or a cheat
who earned his degree through spurious means.

You're right that Kamran Abbasi's statistical musings
border on parody, but the style of the two sentences
under discussion seems closer to his than to Muhammad
Ali's. There's also a smoother flow from the sentences
prior to these two to the sentence after:
Kamran Abbasi:
"It is difficult to be too hard on the man. He blames
himself enough, he hurts like the rest of us, and he
does care. But is that enough to be captain of Pakistan?
It is a position that Yousuf has coveted, and believed
he was unfairly denied for too long. Sometimes, however,
the ambitions of our hearts and heads overestimate the
sum of our capabilities. A close observation of Yousuf's
captaincy has been alarming viewing ..."
Muhammad Ali:

In general, while one can't accuse Abassi of elegant
prose, M. Ali's is worse. Here are examples:
"Hussey and Siddle were a picture in obstinacy"
"Their inanity eased the pressure on the hosts and
allowed them to fight back and score victory."
"It hurts, but it is a fact that Pakistan players,
with little education and literary no brains, have
forgotten how to play Test cricket. Their faculty
of brain needs to be developed."
Kamran Abassi may write rubbish, but he writes it
better than Mohammad Ali.

People are dying day in and out in NWFP and the president thinks that

going get the nation rid of it's problems. What a bozo of a man, this
abbasi guy.
Can't believe he's a doctor and edit's a major medical journal.
If this guy is what Pakistan's journalism is all about, then god save
that country.
