their two recent nemeses (Dhoni and Yuvraj) were both quitened down
and Indians were restricted to a total 20-30 runs short of what was
very likely at one stage. If not for Harbhajan's heroics, the total
could be even less. More importantly though, it was a successful
run-chase of a fairly substantial target by a Pakistani line-up devoid
of Inzamam. That should give a lot of confidence to the Pakistan team.
A 300-run innings was always very likely in this series. To have it
play out and yet Pakistan still ending up on the winning side is
great. That's when they bowled four-five extra overs because of wides
and no-balls, and Yousuf didn't stick around for long. I think, Akmal
also dropped one off Ghambir but that's somewhat expected. Afridi went
for 60+ runs and so did Gul and Tanvir (although both bowled well in
their second spells). So lots of loose ends to tie up but for once
Malik is not "learning from losing a game".
By the way Malik's captaincy wasn't very impressive. He has to be more
authoritative and the field placing needs to be better. Dhoni, in
comparison, is doing quite well and if his fielders had taken the
catches, he could have had a 2-0 lead right now.

yes, very good performance pakistan, though you were asssited by the 3
LBWs turned down (2 vs yousuf and one v younus) and got the uthappa
dismissal as a freebie, as it was missing off by about 6-8 inches.

Thanks. Well, Pakistan didn't have too many cricket matches going on
and I just stopped checking out new postings here. Now things are
heating up again (hopefully not in Pakistan dressing room) and I am
all ready to suffer through another 3-0 thrashing by Australia, next
year. Only, this time I am sure Pakistan'll win :)
By the way, NZL did well on the first day. I am surprised to see no
thread on that test match.
