A batsman has index h if he has scored h or more runs in h innings.

Tendulkar - 76
Bradman - 43

Of course, like the number of hundreds, it values longevity, but still, a fun metric to track.

Fun part is, every time a batsman surpasses his current h-index, his h-index goes up by 1 (unless he has ties at his current h-index). So it gives another milestone for fans to look forward to during the innings, apart from 50, 100 etc.

Like all measures, it has to be understood to be useful.
As Mohan said, it's volume-centric.

One possible modification is x% above x.
Removes the volume imposition. Perhaps,
you will have to rename it the k-index,
but I am OK with that :-)
