Javed Miandad scored 260 against England at Oval in 1987. He was
caught and bowled by Dilley. Saleem Malik and Imran Khan also scored
centuries in that match. I think it was the 4th test of the series.

JM scored 280* against India at Hyderabad in 1982. Mudassir Nazar
also scored a double century in that match. I think these two were
involved in a big partnership (4?? runs) and were able to equalize a record
made by two Australians (I think). Can someone please complete the info?

they put on 452 runs for the third wicket. Infact they equalled the highest
partnership for any wicket in cricket history by australians which happened to
be 452. I am not sure who held that record. but now i think that is broken by
Martin Crowe and Jones. Someone can confirm it.

If I remember correctly, Javed Miandad scored 280* in the second
innings? of the hyderabad match when Imran declared around lunch time on the
final day knowing fully well that the match is heading for a draw in any case.
May be the idea was to not let JM walk away with more glory then he.."imran",
could handle!
Anyways the decision to declare in that match still remains a source
of mystry to me, though the actual details of the match are long forgotten.

WOULD HAVE VERY MUCH LIKED JAVEED MIANDAD TO GET MORE RUNS ATLEAST GET PASSED
THE 300 MARK, BUT IF THE OUTCOME OF THE MATCH WAS WHAT I YHINK IT WAS, IMRAN'S
DECISION WAS FULLY JUSTIFIED.

Yes ahsan, they equalled the record of 451. but unfortunately, mudazzar got
out and they couldn't set a new record. Isn't this record broken tho?

agreed! but still i can't understand, why he did not let miandad go for a
triple century (not for the record!), it is not as if one gets a chance to
score a triple century every other day (and he was only 20 runs short).
at the pace, he was batting on that day, it shouldn't have taken 30-45 min.

still wondering,

If you think little harder, Pakistan won that match skittling out
India in their second innings........I'm pretty sure it was not the
final day that Imran declared, 'cause it seems little improbable
that Pakistanis would have got all 10 Indian wickets in two sessions..
or did they ???????

yep, by Martin Crowe (299) and Andrew Jones (186) vs Sri Lanka at the Basin Reserve, Wellington in 1991 (or was it last year?) I think the partnership was 467.

I thought it was Zaheer Abbass who got the double in that particular match.

You are thinking of the Kiwis Martin Crowe and Andrew Jones; They got a big
partnership (don't know how many runs) against the Sri Lankans.
