AFAIK, there are 500+ cricketers given work permits each northern summer to
play in the UK.

Tobby Briggs would be able to add to this list as he used to play with
Sairaj.....

Still does AFAIK, although I understand Bahutule has had to return to India
for the time being.

There aren't many from India playing on contracted/overseas registrations in
the Surrey Championship. Old Rutlishians have a character named Sandeep
Ganguly (a disguise?). Here are some others (although I confess I've never
heard of any of them):

Arvind Maan (Old Emanuel)
Rajinikanth Krishnamoorthy (Wimbledon)
Ravinder Singh (Old Hamptonions)

No, they're official overseas players who either haven't played first-class
cricket or have reached that level without attaining much success. For
example Arvind Maan appears to have played one match for Rajasthan in
2003/04, in which he scored 33 & 13 and bowled one wicketless over.

Sai returned back to India last week after hearing the news that his
mother passed away. Even though the club have told him to stay in
Mumbai, especially with his wife ready to drop next month too, Sai is
supposedly heading back on Friday!

As to other players - I think Andrew's managed to get them all. Not sure
if Harpreet "Happy" Singh is still teaching at Charterhouse and playing
2s cricket at Farnham.

One player's who I don't think's been mentioned is Paras Mhambrey who's
playing for North Maidenhead in the Home Counties Premier Cricket League.

Maybe I should clarify that - when I say drop, I mean she's pregnant!
Sorry - just an English way of saying it!

Cheers,

Which one of these words translates as "Hadlee"?

The word "ulti" is roughly equivalent to "RSC defense of Hadlee's
commitment."

Back in India at the moment, due to his mother's death.

BTW, got 161* last weekend to lead his team to victory. The
team was 1/2 to start the innings, so he was pretty slow - and
then his last 100 runs took all of 37 balls, with 8 balls hit
into the road apparently :-)

> > Amol Muzumdar: Bishop Auckland, Durham League

Got 74* to lead his team to victory in the last match too.

Havent paid as much attention to the English summer this year,
so dont know as much about it (it really would be nice if there
was one location to find most of these results/players - I dont
know of one, however).

Still, there are a few more Indians playing in the league,
whose names Ive seen here and there. Reetinder Singh Sodhi
is playing in Durham League, for Darlington RA (scored 35
last week), for example.

There are others - Atul Bedade is playing in Yorkshire,
for example. Abey Kuruvilla is playing with Woodale - he
played with them last year too, and has returned to them
this year (has had a 7/34 and a 9/40 this season already).

There are many others, of course. Maroof Khan might not even
qualify as a "overseas player" anymore, but he led Chrisleton
to promotion last year, and is back with them this year - he
is studying somewhere in the area I think. People like
Richie Kapoor are still around - still with his old team
in the Yorkshire League IIRC.

Most guys return to their old teams. Most of the players
listed below have too - Pandey, SPandey, Das, Powar etc
are all definitely still with their old teams. Others - Iam
not sure. Sefton Park offered Vinayak Mane a contract for
the season after being very pleased with him last year - but
I havent seen his name in their first couple of games (and
theyve actually had *no* overseas player for their first
couple of games), so not sure whats happening there, maybe
an injury or something, with no replacement yet? But in
general a lot of guys who were around a year ago are also
around this year, mostly with the same clubs.
