Here are some of the records I've achieved in EA Sports Cricket 96, a
game I've had for over two years now. Read 'em and weep (or laugh, as
the case may be). They are all absolutely true. The best performances
have been at "Easy" level, but there have been some pretty damn good
knocks at "Normal" level too. Enjoy!

RECORD PARTNERSHIPS
Test

(534) for "Australia" vs. "Sri Lanka" at "Easy" level - May 1997
ODI
653, for the 1st wicket, between "G. Ireland" (361) and "A. Blanch"
(339*) for "Australia" vs. "West Indies" at "Easy" level - December 1996
In addition to all these batting feats, the best bowling performance is
10-38, by "S. Abdul" of "Pakistan". Unfortunately, I can't remember who
it was against, but it was in a test, and I'm pretty sure it was in the
second innings. Moreover, I have bowled entire teams out for 0 on at
least six occasion, but again, I'm hazy on details. I pay more attention
to batting records than bowling ones in this game!
Now, how about letting me know your own records in this game?

Anyway, it's great to see people taking this game seriously.
FASTEST 100 in ODI
E.Winter(AUS) 102*(20) vs NZ - Forget the date
I don't actually keep records of stats.
Honestly, this is true. Anybody, want to top this. I will not be angry, in
fact, I will be IMPRESSED. :)
What is the best way to keep stats? The final scorecard is crap. It
doesn't show the bowler of caughts or the FOW.
BEST STRIKE RATE
D.Coster(ENG) 11(0)
Noball and 4 runs.
Noball and 4 runs.
Noball and Run out going for a 4th Run ( It's possible with S.Collier)
for a Strike Rate of INFINITY. Hah. That's gonna be tough to beat.
The unfortunate bowler was S.Scott(AUS). It was an Ashes Simulation.
Hints and Tips
For the Easy version
Create every ball into a Full Toss by charging and power hitting straight.
You will always get a 6, or a C & B (How this happens is beyond me).
Anyway, as long as the ball lands on the pad around the kneeroll, you will
time the ball well enough to clear the fence.
For the Normal version
Create every ball into a Half-Volley and drive the ball straight.
The field is always set up with Mid-off VACANT! 4 runs every ball.
This will not always work for right-handers. Left-handers can play this
shot all-day. NZ have S.Brook, M.Downie, and D.Bremner at 1,3 and 4
respectively. They are unstoppable. The combination of S.Collier and
D.Coster ( Both are Lightning Fast as well) is the best in the game.
Simply promote them to 1 and 2 and the opposition is in for a long day.
Right handers have more luck cutting the ball. It requires a Left-hander
to initially clear the slip cordon, and from there it is 2 runs per ball
or more if the pair are quick.
For the Hard version
I do not like the Hard version
Here is my highest team score at this level. 12 ( 3 runs, 9 extras )
Every shot I hit was caught by the fielders, that moved from Cover to Deep
Long-off to make miraculous diving catches!
MY HIGHEST SCORE in a TEST is about 900 ( give or take 50) by Australia
The number 11 batsman L.Reynold got 200, G.Vander got 250 and E.Winter got
140-ish.The two partnerships (Vander/Winter & Vander/Reynold) contributed
over 550 between them for the 9th and 10th wickets.
When playing in the Normal mode, I try to pace myself. I figure it is
harder to subdue natural instinct to attack at ridiculous run rates, and
challenge myself to score at ONLY 6 an over until the last 10 overs ( in a
50 over match).
BOWLING
This is the biggest farce of the game.
LOWEST SCORE BY OPPONENT. 10/0 of 10 balls ( Let's see ...... Consists of
3 hattricks)
It is so easy. Set up a Forward Short Leg, of reasonable Speed. Put him as
far up the spot as you can. He is now is position to catch anything.
Bowl bouncers at the batter's head. The batter will block and quick dive
to catch the ball ( just click, the fielder will dive across if in the
right position). There you go. 10 wickets, 10 balls

"India" also have some great batsmen. Next to "Ireland", "K. Gosh" is
the best opener there is. Other top batsmen include "M. Singh" and "L.
Chaudry". All these guys are quick between the wickets. Best batsman for
the "West Indies" is "G. Allen", who's another fast runner and has a
best test score of 523. "D. Bremner" is NZ's best, I reckon. He holds
the NZ "test" record of 386, the ninth highest individual score I've
achieved in EA Sports Cricket 96.
My next post will be about the real cricket - promise!
