Hi,
I recently asked;
>Does anyone know the speech describing the rules of cricket which was used in
>the TV series "Bodyline". In the series a chap was asked to explain the rules
>and he went on as such - "the team who is out goes to bat until all there men
>are out, then the team who was in goes out to bat etc. etc".
> I would very much appreciate hearing from someone who knows this witty
>speech as I'm quite often asked by Americans to explain the rules of cricket.
Thanks to all those who replied, and here are their replies.
Neil.

CRICKET: As explained to a foreigner...:))))
You have two sides, one out in the field and one in.
Each man that's in the side that's in goes out, and when he's out
he comes in and the next man goes in until he's out.
When they are all out, the side that's out comes in and the side
thats been in goes out and tries to get those coming in, out.
Sometimes you get men still in and not out.
When a man goes out to go in, the men who are out try to get him
out, and when he is out he goes in and the next man in goes out
and goes in. There are two men called umpires who stay all out
all the time and they decide when the men who are in are out.
When both sides have been in and all the men have out, and both
sides have been out twice after all the men have been in,
including those who are not out, that is the end of the game!

Two men in white coats come out with bits of wood and stick them in the
ground. Then 11 others in white shirts and pants come out and
stand around. Then two men carrying bats come out, and immediately go in.
Play proceeds until one of the two men in is out, when another comes out
and goes in to replace him. This continues until all the team that is in
have come out, gone in and been out, except for one who stays in and is
therefore not out. Then everyone goes in until later, when the team that
was in comes out and the team that was out goes in. When both teams have
come out and gone in, including all the outs and the not outs, that's the
end of the game.
