As far as I know Waqar Yunuis is the fastest bowler in the world today.
I haven't seen him bowling in Sharjah recently but last year he was bowling
with a speed of over 150 kmph which was more than any other bowler( McDermott
being second).

Now I guess he has reduced his speed as per Imran's instructions.

Bollocks! Wasim Akram is the quickest Paki (and he's BLOODY QUICK!). It is
(as always) extremely arguable that he's as fast as, or faster than Malcolm
Marshall, Patrick Patterson and co, but which ever way you look at it he's
one of the fastest in the world today.

Waqar (?) is still just a kid. If he keeps on developing, he might finish
up being a genuine quickie, but at the moment, he's not. I would not be at
all surprised if Imran had ordered him to slow down though. Each time I've
seen him, he has tried too hard to bowl fast and his control has suffered
accordingly. If Imran can teach him some control, he'll be good. No doubt.

I don't believe McDermott is the second fastest either, even if you ignore
the other claimants from the Windies and Pakistan. When he's got his back up,
Merv Hughes is at least as quick as McDermott. On hard green pitches, he can
be quite devastating. Also, there are a few bowlers in the shield competition
who can claim to be genuinely quick.

Ultimately, the only reliable judge of how quick a bowler is, is the poor
fool in the helmet with the lump of willow, frantically trying to fend off
a ball that's pitched just short of a length and reared up into his ribs, or
his throat. - a perfectly legal delivery BTW, even in the one dayers.

Chris.

Well, I think its about time you stop comparing cricketing
giants like Imran Khan and present day fast bowling wizards like
Waqar Younus with a mediocre CHUCKER of the ball like Prabharkar or
a dead spent force like Kapil Dev. Waqar Younus has been acclaimed
by nearly all the major cricketing playing countries as being the
fastest bowler, while Prabharker is not even rated RF (right arm fast),
in fact he is rated RMF (right medium fast) - not even RFM (right fast
medium)- in the cricketing books. Come-on face it, its a fact,
India is just not capable of producing fast bowlers.
Coming to the question, I think the bowling speed of Prabharker - the
chucker - is around 75 (Gosh! and he opens the bowling for a country, what
a shame !. I think you should redifine your standards ; instead of
keeping Tausif's speed in mind when you look for an opening bowler,
guess its a better idea to go for Harper - boy is he FAST!! (relative
to Indian standards).
Hope you enjoyed the Sharjah Final, Chris.

who is this coward who is ranting on the net? what's your name, kiddo?
do not incite people who are by-and-large gentlemen (a word for which you may
have to pore over the dictionary to find the meaning).
if you must make comments or respond to people's posts, do so in a proper way.
and now go about asking me what that is. read the net for a few days and you
will learn. maybe in your case it will take more than a few days. but, be
patient and you will soon be on the right track.
and you seem to fancy yourself a better judge of bowlers and their styles, than
the "pundits" of cricket!! (hey! somebody tell me what is the best way to
indicate a guffaw? i need something much stronger than a smilie for this
fellow). if "Prabharkar" is a chucker and Kapil is whatever-you-called-him, are
all the people out there playing the game (including the Pakistan batsmen and
the Umpires) nincompoops or incompetents? remember, Manoj Prabhakar (note the
spelling) has got more wickets than most of the other bowlers in the
tournament, whatever the reason.
get rid of the blind-support-for-my-country-and-denounce-all-others-especially
-india syndrome and grow up. appreciate the game for what it is.

End Sermon.

Murali.

I doubt it that Craig Mcdermod is the second fastest bowler, that
too after Wasim.
There is no doubt that WAQAR is the fastest and Ian Bishop a close
second.
Then would come WASIM and AMBROSE.

I guess if you look at that article carefully, you will find
his name at the end, which is Chris.

DUMBO can't you read my name written at the end of my postings. Let
me tell you something Dumbo. Incidently this net was supposed to be
for public use
and every body has every right to post what he wants and how he wants.
Nobody can stop him/her from posting that. Nobody on this net is anybody's
servant and you (or anybody) are not here to dictate terms to us. So
listen fella, stop giving us your advice on how to post, and just carry
on with your own damn work. Learn to take your defeats like gentlemen
and not like a cry-baby. But if you cannot change yourself and have to
cry like a "kiddo" kindly spare us our souls and go bacvk to your home
and cry there. Don't expect us Gentlemen on this net to console you. If
you cannot face attacks, then surrender, retaliate or shut-up,
but don't CRY.

> do not incite people who are by-and-large gentlemen (a word for which you may

Definitely by-and-large, but that excludes you dumbo. And by the way
who made you the authority for judging other peoples characters.

> have to pore over the dictionary to find the meaning).

The proper way as defined by you ?. And perhaps that is to keep praising
the Indian team inspite of their disgusting performances over the years.

To indicate a guffaw : stand infront of a mirror - see, piece o cake.
Perhaps you are the greatest "pundit" of cricket. As I told you, these were
my personal observations and you may have a different one. Fine. State your
opinions, justify them etc etc, but you are NOBODY to personally cvriticize
me. Listen chap, perhaps you think you are a big shot on the net, and the
politest of the polite, the noblest of the noble - well, good for you.
BUT YOU ARE A NOBODY FOR ME AND WILL REMAIN SO. Therefore its a good
idea to save yorself some energy. So kick back, relax and learn to
take defeats in a respectable manner - not like a dumb "kiddo".

> fellow). if "Prabharkar" is a chucker and Kapil is whatever-you-called-him, are

God!, I called Kapil a DEAD SPENT FORCE, can't you even understand that.
Perhaps it'll be a good idea to keep a dictionary next to you when reading
these postings.

Guess you need an answer : NO.

For your kind information I'm NOT A PAKISTANI, and have never supported my
country in my letters.

Or crying!!

> Regards,

What were you trying to prove in this letter ?. Were you trying to
stop me from making my judgements and opinions known to others, were you
trying to convince me to hide the facts and start praising the Indian
team so that you could stop weeping, or were you just "ranting" away?
Whatever the reason, I DON'T GIVE A DAMN. I'll say whatever I want to, and
whenever I want to. If you don't like it, well too bad - I certainly
pity you. AND STOP BEING SO NARROW MINDED AND TAKING THINGS PERSONALLY.
