Hi,

Im planning to go to the Chinnaswamy stadium in Bangalore for the 2nd
test match between India and Aus. I have the option of choosing
between 2 stands -- one next to the long-on/long-of and the second in
next to the square-leg/deep-point.

I have not watched a test match live in a stadium before so i want
some view on which of the two stands will be better. Will there be any
advantage of view from any particular stand?

Cheers
Karthik

I'd always go for the long-on one. You get to watch the ball down the
pitch, as per TV, rather than from square of the wicket. Square of the
wicket makes it a lot harder to keep your eye on the ball.

Local factors might also be an issue for you, ie where the sun is.

But all things being equal... long-on.

I've not been in a proper stadium, but that's certainly what I found
viewing from pitch level at our local ground. More balls are hit square of
the wicket rather than down, and even when I managed to spot the ball in
flight, the perspective when a ball is coming towards you makes it
difficult to judge the speed and trajectory.

So I'd go for long-on as well.

Congratulations. You will have a wonderful time.

I have watched 3 Tests at Bangalore from pavillion end at long-on /
long-off, and the sight lines are excellent (I was a level up, which
may have helped. Not sure about lower level views). In general,
square of the wicket is to be avoided whenever possible. Generally,
the straighter views are more expensive seats at most grounds, with
better catering options as well.

Enjoy!

Long on would be the best...I am planning to go too...are u getting
passes or is the sale of tickets already started? I'll also advice you
to take a seat which is closer to the cubbon park i.e. your back/right
shoulder faces cubbon park...because that side you will be saved by
the shadow in the afternoon...you won't bake in the sun!

Thanks Guys! I will choose the long-on stand.
For those who are interested the tickets are being sold online at
http://in.bookmyshow.com/cricket/indaus/

The N Stand (North stand) is in the long-on/long-off area.

Cheers

Here's that link without the tracking codes;

I assume it's some kind of tracking code!
