This is in contrast to Mike in his teens and early 20's where he would
speak very quickly and had no trouble communicating. The biggest
difference is speed and the ease with wich he communicates. he was
much faster and found speaking much easier back then. He really
struggles now.
Has anyone else noticed this? Do you think it's simply due to
concussions, or have years of street drugs, anti-depressants (which
are known to shrink the brain with prolonged use), and anti-psychotic
meds combined to cause him to slow down?
This also got me thinking about other boxers (Ali, Holyfield, Bowe,
ect.) who have clearly been slowed mentally by boxing. Are there any
examples of guys who have the same mental capacity post-boxing as pre-
boxing? I can't think of a single example. De La Hoya maybe?
Antidepressants and perhaps other psych drugs, IMHO.
Luck of the draw--look at Foreman, Holmes, George Chuvalo,
Ernie Terrell and so on.
