I hope it's a steel cage, Polish Strap loser retire's match with Rock
Newman banned from the Arena area....

Frankly, I think I'd be more interested in a fight between Newman and
Duva. My money's on Lou - he has one hell of a punch!

I'd love to see the rematch, but I can't imagine any venue wanting to host
this after MSG. It's going to be a tough sell. However, if they'd like to
bring it to Atlantic City . . .

Yeah that's about it. No-one nowhere is referring to this
disqualification as a 'victory' for Bowe. At least the thoroughly
discredited Bowe has enough left to want to avenge his
ass-beating.
His megabucks Tyson fight is gone with the wind though.
And the formerly under-estimated Andrezj Golotta is now
in a position to deal for those heavyweight Tyson
megabucks.
I can't hide it, I love this shit. Way to go Andrezj!

Yeah, I love this stuff, too. I didn't see the fight and I never saw Galota before that
but apparently the guy comes to fight and he CAN fight. Breath of fresh air in the
heavyweight division; the sharpies and crooks are going to have to take Galota into
account for their calculations for now on. However, I don't think guys like King and
Newman are going to want to put their fighters in with Galota - too much money at stake to
risk the reasonable possibility of a loss to him. As for Tyson, I will be accordingly
surprised if he will EVER fight Galota. King/Tyson are in it for the money (no complaint)
and into taking the path of least resistance. After Friday's fight, I don't think anyone
is going to regard Galota as part of the road of least resistance to titles. I'd sincerely
like to be wrong about (not) seeing Galota matched up with other respected heavyweights.
But cynicism isn't an altogether useless quality to bring to making sense of heavyweight
matchups.
By the way, any idea of where/when a replay of the fight (both <g>) can be seen?
Al
I think it would go to Vegas. That way, the Bowe "thugs" would have to pay
their own way out there.
What Newman should look forward to is
weekends in jail and community service
from Monday to Friday. This guy ain't
nuttin' but a gang leader!

I had to laugh at this one!

Nah. Duva could hardly be impartial. I'd expect him to start throwing
punches, too. };->

Yeah, I'll take King. He's got the "killer" instinct...
Don't remember Newman serving time for manslaughter...

At first, I thought the idea was somewhat humorous.
Given some monents to reflect upon the numerous
posts that have been submitted, I rather think the
idea has some very good merit. Unfortunately, Lou
Duva would kick Rock Newman's lilly livered arse.
DCI
King would moider him.

Lewis' manager, Frank Maloney, says, "Lewis' likely target is now a
Sept. 28th HBO date against Oliver McCall"- if Tyson gives up the WBC
belt by then. Would Lewis fight McCall if the vacant title wasn't up for
grabs? "Of course not", according to Maloney.
Kimball also writes that if Steve Collins wins his civil court case
in Ireland against his former manager, Pat Petronelli, we could see a
matchup in Boston between Collins and the winner of the Rosenblatt-
Pazienza bout (August 23rd).
Mickey Ward and Lewis Veader face off in a rematch next Sunday
night. Welterweights Jose Rivera and Willie Wise are also scheduled,
televised on ESPN (2?).
Peter McNeeley got a break- his automatic suspension (after his 5th-
round KO by Louis Monaco) was reduced ONE day (30 to 29), so he could
fight August 12th against Domingo Munroe. Also on that card will be New
England middleweight champ George Heckley vs. "Buddy" McGirt. (Televised
from Saratoga)
TVKO plans a PPV event October 12th at Caesars: ODLH vs. Miguel
Angel Gonzalez, J.C. Chavez vs. Joey Gamache scheduled.
Finally, Kimball says HBO will NOT replay the Bowe-Golota MSG bout
because of what happened. They know people would tune in, want to see
it, etc. but it was an "unhappy circumstance all around" and HBO didn't
want to "exploit" it.
