That sounds like the Danny Wofford I have seen. Little tank of a guy,
right? Spartanburg SC, right? It sounds like Danny Wofford's record, all
right. Question is, is this guy Danny Wofford or is he just posing as
Danny Wofford? I won't even speculate on why anyone would pose as Danny
Wofford, but hey, for a buck? Oh, one more thing. You said "old boxer."
Danny Wofford, as far as I know, is still active.

A friend of mine ran into a guy begging in front of a convenience store
recently, and after talking with him, the guy claimed to be a former boxer,
one "Dangerous" Dan Wofford.

Is there a way to check if this guy existed. The man said he had a 15-45
record, mostly as a pad for other fighters, but still, it would be nice to
know if it's true.

He said he's lost to Pinklon Thomas, Trevor Berbick, Michael Dokes, and
poss. Pete "The mild rain shower" McNeeley.

If anyone has access to boxing records, could you let me know if this guy
is telling the truth?

Thanks,

Chase

Hey, I got an idea... Smack the guy in the face next time you
see him, then when he comes after you feint and throw an overhand
right. If you flatten him then more than likely he IS Danny Wofford.
If you DON'T, then more than likely he's just another stumble bum
hustling for a drink.

Chase-
I can't vouch for the fact that the person you talked to was
indeed Danny Woford, but the real Danny Wofford is listed in the Boxing
Record Book as having a record of 15-42-2(8 KO's)through the end of
'95.Here's opponents and results of note:
Bruce Seldon L 6
Joe Hipp L 6
Orlin Norris TKOby 10
Alex Stewart TKOby 4
Oliver McCall TKOby 5
Micheal Dokes TKOby 9
James Smith TKOby 7
Pinklon Thomas L 10
Shannon Briggs L 6
Trevor Berbick L 8
Micheal Grant L 8
Peter McNeeley TKOby 2

None of his wins were over anyone of note.I'm sorry to hear that he's
down on his luck.Take care,
Dave

Chase,

That is Wofford's correct record and it probably was him. There aren't
many people who would be aware of his record and I can't imagine anyone
claiming to be him even if they were trying to beg money.

Danny is 35. To me he is a spring chicken, but after all those
"opponent" fights he would be be an old fighter to most folks.
