MENTOR DIDN'T KNOW I'D END UP IN "RED LIGHT" DISTRICT!
Duluth. GA-Having been around the block a time or two, I've seen a
lot in a better than 35-year tenure as someone who writes for others.
The man that had the most effect on me journalistically was my high
school teacher, the great Anthony Peligrino. When I went after the
principal, exposing a nasty "thirst" problem, the school board went
crazy. While this was hot news, Peligrino wrote the following on the
chalkboard. "Telling the truth shall set you free." The only
problem with my mentor's verbiage is that he had no idea I would end
up in the "Red Light" district of journalism, AKA the world of
professional boxing.
BE IT LOVE OR HATE, IT'S ALWAYS STRAIGHT!
Some of you like me, while others admittedly despise my very existence.
Being a radio personality, I've come to learn that the
"love-hate" thing is what implores people to listen to, and read
your work. That being said, disgruntled California referee Pat
Russell's lawyers are again hammering me. Knowing that I've never
lied, deceived, or taken any of you the wrong way down a one-way
street, I am confident, "the truth shall set me free."
THE "TRUTH (A LIE DETECTOR TEST) SHALL SET ME FREE!"
There is nothing that I've ever written in regards to Mr. Russell,
that I didn't believe to be the truth. Be it what Russell himself, or
Dean Louhis of the California Commission told me, or even the location
of one of Marty Denkin's graveyards, are all things I could back up
with a Polygraph examination. I challenge Mr. Russell's attorney to
get together with my lawyer, and arrange a Lie-Detector test. I'm
more than willing to take the Polygraph, in a good-faith attempt to put
this behind us all.

Being a boxing pioneer of the Internet since 1994, and having performed
on the radio for better than 19 years, I've never asked my readers,
or listeners, for help. Long before the pay sites ever came into
fruition, I have always maintained that the Internet should be without
charge. However an attempt is being made to destroy this website and
me. Like HBO judge Harold Lederman said when honoring me in 2001,
"Pedro has made many sacrifices that have prevented him from getting
important jobs, but he has done this solely for the betterment of
boxing!"

I like to think of myself as being a somewhat charitable person. That said,
I carefully choose the charities to whom I make donations. When look at the
people who need a handout, Pedro Fernandez and his so-called 'poison pen'
come nowhere near making my list of donees.
While people in Africa, are literally starving to death, I would never send
a single penny to perpetuate Pedro The Entertainer. While people are
attempting to rebuild their lives and survive the winter following an
earthquake which destroyed their homes and their villages in Pakistan, I
have zero inclination to support someone who has dealt out his
vindictiveness recklessly through his words on the internet. While people
throughout the world are held in prison and tortured because of their
political points of view, I have no charity for someone such as Pedro
Fernandez. While millions and millions of people in a multitude of
countries suffer from hunger and malnutrition, the request of Pedro
Fernandez to subsidize his website and defense fund does not even register
on my Richter scale.
Now, if bullshit and bullying were to pay big bucks, he'd have no problem
paying his own way. If he were such a straight shooter and spoke as
carefully as he would have others do, he'd likely have no worries right now.
It seems as if Pedro has had a few misfires and he's not talking so tough
now. "There is nothing that I've ever written in regards to Mr. Russell,
that I didn't believe to be the truth." Pedro doesn't seem so cocksure of
himself now, does he?
Maybe Bob Arum, Karl Freitag (owner of FightNews.com) and Michael Katz will
help out Pedro. Yeah, right!
I'd bet that Don King would help Pedro out. Of course, there'd be a cost to
Don's assistance. We'd likely never read an uncomplimentary word about Don
King from Mr. The Truth Shall Set You Free Fernandez.

Wellll - so shit is finally starting to catch up with Mr. Ego
- it's about time. Who in their right mind would even think of
sending money for Pete's defense. He deserves all the garbage that
gets thrown at him. My money's going to Pat Russell.
By the way, rather than taking up RSB's time by posting a
begging Pete in its entirety, please just put the link to his cry for
help. That way we can make our own choice to read his crap or not.

What do you think of people who feed their dogs / cats and so forth
instead of using that money to feed these starving people? The US spends
billions on dog food all of which is expensive high protein or meat
products. A half day's rations for a US dog will, instead, save a child
in Africa from dying that night.
So where is your anti-dog campaign?

There are plenty of boxing websites out there with free content
willing to pickup the slack. It's a free enterprise society. If
Fernandez can find enough suckers to pay for his content then more power
to him. I sure won't be one of them.
