a fun crew of characters give their takes on this fight here...... I
thought it was particularly funny that an comedian/actor like John
Leguizamo had a much, MUCH better idea of what the hell’s going on
than a sportswriter like Tim Smith of the New York Daily News did,
ha........blown-up junior welterweight, who is that,Hatton?…..what,
give me a fucking break man!
Anyway, i'm still more inclined to see Pacquiao---my favorite current
fighter----losing this one than winning it, simply based on the fact
that you can only push these David vs Goliath scenarios (at least at
these weights) so far into the night, and then you're simply in too
far.......and i just can't help but see the former 112 lb champ
Pacquiao-----who’s gone farther and deeper into that night than any
fighter in history---is in too far here, though i'd love to be wrong!
And hell, if Pacquiao does indeed win, then i hope everybody realizes
just how amazing a thing that is...........okay, can't wait until
sat’s Fight Night and i hope it's a good fight and that nobody gets
seriously damaged as a result .

Good article. George Foreman, Winky Wright, Shane Mosley, Tito
Trinidad, Carlos Ortiz and Kellen Winslow, among others, picked Cotto.
Going w/Manny were Bhop, Tyson, Donald Trump, Joe Calzaghe, Chad
Dawson, Camacho Sr, Justin Verlander and Justin Morneau.
John Leguizamo and P. Diddy gave wimpy, noncommital answerrs.
George Lopez picked Manny by UD because "he's beaten more Latinos than
the police." :)
hmmm, while he didn't throw a winner at you, I thought Leguizamo's
answer showed he's not just giving an answer to give an answer, but
actually really knows his boxing and boxers a bit.......compare that
to Tim Smith's answer!
BtW, what's your pick (sorry if i missed it somewhere earlier)?
Fred
Manny by UD.
I think Manny is the better fighter (although Cotto is a great
fighter) and will win if he can withstand Cotto's power. But that's
no sure thing. I think Manny will win based on speed, but would not
be totally surprised if Cotto manages to hurt and even stop Manny.
Sounds wishy washy but I am in fact predicting a Manny win. Late
round stoppage or UD.
I find it ironic that people who picked DLH over Manny are now picking
Manny over Cotto.
I'm picking Cotto, but barely, I'm about 52/48 for Cotto.
STRATEGY
Why is it ironic? If someone (in this case Manny) proves one's old
position wrong, it's only rational to reevaluate that position. I
don't think I made such a prediction (although maybe I did), but the
position was that Manny can't handle such a big fighter. Well he sure
handled Oscar. So you have to reevaluate.
Manny by UD.

Im sorry has the newsgroup been taken over by ole Procrastinators?
I thought this fight had already happened?
Mr.Will
In world of fourth and fifth dimensions, yes! it is possible.
DCI
The Ole Procrastinator
Manny vs Cotto already took place? Wow, I really overslept this time...
-------------
Well, since the title of the thread says "Pacquiou v Hatton" and talks of
Hatton, one would suggest the thread was about, well........Manny v
Hatton......you can of course choose to sleep.
Mr.Will
He handled a big, well past his prime weight-drained fighter. I don't
see how how the Oscar win makes a good barometer for what he may or
may not be able to do to Cotto.
I will not exactly be shocked if Pacquiao wins, but I will be if he
dominates Cotto like he did DLH.
STRATEGY
Manny is now clearly an all time great fighter. A flyweight champion
that has moved up to decisively out slug a strong Welterweight
beltholder, one who holds a victory over the current true champion
Mosley.
Well, he dominated Cotto, that's for sure.
As to your other post, it's NOT ironic that some of those that picked
Oscar have decided he can beat Cotto. Even Oscar not at full strength
was still much bigger than any fighter Manny had ever fought. And he
manhandled him and took his best shots. Guess what, he manhandled
Cotto and took his best shots, too. It actually made a good barometer.
A lot easier to say in retrospect, isn't it?
I stick to my previous comments. The fact is, we now *know* Manny can
beat top fighters at 147, we didn't know that from the Oscar fight,
though you and others might've thought it was an early indicator.
Pacquiao is amazing, I am not surprised he won by TKO, but am
surprised at how easily he shrugged off clean shots from Cotto, the
man is SCARY.
STRATEGY
Actually I just repeated what I said on November 11. That it's not
particularly ironic to get behind Manny after the fight against
Oscar. Not everyone agrees with you that Manny didn't prove anything
that night. You're assuming that Oscar looking like a shell wasn't
caused by Manny being extremely great.
As was clear last night, Cotto was made to look almost as fragile and
weak after the 4th round as Oscar (not quite as bad, but bad). It's
Manny that's causing this, not the weakness of his opponents.
