Open Letter to Roy Jones
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
----
By Dariusz Michalczewski

----
Dear Roy Jones,
I have followed your career since your performance at the Seoul Olympics.
While your accomplishments inside the ring are noteworthy, neither myself
nor knowledgeable fans have respect for you, since you have avoided me for
years, opting to fight weaker competition.
Why are you ducking me? Is it because I beat Virgil Hill immediately after
his greatest win, one year before you faced him? Or because I knocked out
Montell Griffin in just four rounds, the only man to ever beat you? Is that
the reason you are afraid of me?
For five years I'm the undefeated WBO light heavyweight champion. I defended
my title 16 times - more than any world champion of our weight class before.
The only reason you currently hold the WBA and IBF titles is because I
vacated them two years ago.
You like to pretend that you are the greatest boxer of all time. Prove it!
Two great champions like ourselves, who are ranked number 1 and 2 inside all
independent rankings, owe the boxing fans worldwide to take on each other in
the ultimate challenge for the world light heavyweight championship.
Even in your own country people understood that you avoid me, something that
was confirmed by a survey on the internet site "Boxing Wise", where 811 out
of 939 boxing experts (86%) demanded that you fight me.
Roy, if you continue to duck me, you will go down in boxing history as a
coward.
Yours sincerely,
Dariusz Michalczewski
WBO Light Heavyweight World Champion since 1994
WBA & IBF Light Heavyweight World Champion 1997
WBO Cruiserweight World Champion 1994

HBO is interested in coming to Montreal and InterBox is associated with CKP
where do you see a problem whith the money. In addition the Montreal Casino
is already involved with InterBox you got everything that you can get in
Germany and US(Poland??)plus a neutral place.
Why is it ridiculous

you couldn't give Dariuz/Roy Boy away here at the rate RJjr's career is going.
Only the boxing fans know who he is. Its sells fabulously in Europe, but for
the paydays both fighters require/deserve it has to be handles by Universum in
Europe.
Unless Roy stops carrying fighters and Dariuz makes a dfense or 2 in the US
this year. But i don't see either of those happening.

What does that mean, don't hold it in Liechtenstein? Good God "only" in
Germany, the US, or Poland? Poland aside, what countries outside of the US and
Germany really brings in baskets of money for boxing? screw it, outside of AC,
NY and Las Vegas, what countries really bring in baskets of money for boxing?
If Roy Jones can KO David Telesco between the rockettes high kicks, he can find
time for DM. And if DM wants to be known as the real thing, he's gotta realize
he has to come to the big town to make his mark. There is no reason this fight
should not happen. It's just a matter of getting them both to give a little.

Apparently Dariusz will get about $3.5 million for fighting Rocchigiani
in Cologne.

Dear Norman. I'll type slower so you can follow my point.
The original poster was stating that financially the fight would only make
financial sense in Poland, the US, or Germany.
I opined that this was stating the obvious. I then stated that these are
generally the only countries that bring in the large financial rewards for a
name fighter of the level of RJJ.
The fight might make a decent profit in Canada, granted, but holding it there
would not maximize the earnings potential of holding it in one of the venues
mentioned above.
I hope that helped.
Regards,
O4 Tom
You are mistaken, which seems to be your natural state. The original poster
stated that he wanted to bring the fight to Montreal. I responded by saying
that financially it wouldn't make sense, etc. You've actually quoted my own
words in support of your argument against me. Good job!
Once again, I suggest you read the post that spawned this thread before
jumping in with your comments. Hint: It's in French.
Norman
P.S. Typing slower isn't helping your comprehension. Try reading slower
next time.

Oh quit it. You're making me giggle. Did at any point you consider, "Hey, he
agreed with me." Or would your entire universe crumble if that ever happened?
I mean, what am I, some great demon in your pantheon, and every time I post
near you I must always be in such horrible opposition to you? You posted
something, and then I posted something. As you say, I've "quoted my [ie your]
own words in support of your [ie mine] argument against me." On the planet
where I live, that's called "agreeing". Now perhaps my edited the wrong names
in my newsreader when I replied, and if so I apologise. But I have no need to
try to rethink what I was saying. A poster said maybe Roy Jones should fight
DM in Canada. Another poster said the fight would be financially viable only
in Germany, Poland, or the US. I agreed with that poster, stating that it
should be obvious that is where the fight would be most financially viable.

Once again, I suggest you read and comprehend what I have written. Don't try
to infer some subtle plot against you, being masterminded by me. I most likely
lack the intellectual prowess you seem to imagine I have in order to be able to
do such a thing. In the meantime, have a coke and a smile. Of course, that's
only an idea in passing.
