I know the following people, all famous in other fields, were amateur or
professional boxers at one time of their life. If anyone has any names
to add or comments I'd be interested.

Nelson Mandela
Idi Amin
Mickey Rourke
Jack Palance
Ryan O'Neal
Billy Joel
James Brown
Woody Allen

And, don't forget Actor Tony Danza. Tony had amateur and pro fights.

I believe Harry Connick Jr. also had amateur fights and trained with Hector
Roca at Gleason's in Brooklyn.

never lost a fight as a pro.

Bob Hope (real name: Leslie Robert Hope) fought under the name Packy

How about Victor McLaglen, the Irish character actor who co-starred with
John Wayne in "The Quiet Man"? Ninety years ago, he fought to a six
round ND with Jack Johnson.

very good. That's where he got his punched-in nose.

The author Louis L'Amour had over 60 prize fights and never lost. That is
why the fight scenes in his novels are so accurate.

Well in Di Niro's case...if sparring for two months is all you
need...then add Brad Pitt to this list. Yeah...Brad Pitt is coming out
with a movie about a Secret Society (fight movie). YES THE Secret
Society. Brad Pitt plays the role of Chee. This I ain't making up.
Also I saw Denzel Washington is playing the Rubin Carter story.

Yeah Ron...this is the link that Paul Dalrymple gave me. I believe this
page goes rather in depth over it. Can you believe they aren't paying
me anything for this story. That pisses me off. Well atleast they got
one of Hollywoods best looking men to play me. I was sure they were
going to cast Antoniop Banderas or Wil Smith as Chee.

yeah..and who now fronts INXS.
HA!
Wot a joke!

Also, Errol Flynn was a boxer, apart from being a great actor and a
descendent of Fletcher Christian.
During an episode in Flynn's crazy life, when he stepped on Victor Jory's
toes, (a fellow actor) Errol asked Jory to step outside. As they walked into
the garden, Errol said, "I think I should be fair to you. I should tell you
I boxed as a light heavyweight on the Irish Olympic Team."
Jory was unimpressed by the picturesque lie. He said, "Well, get your ass
out on the lawn coz I'm British Columbia light heavyweight champ, and the
Army champ for the Western States. Let's find out about you."
He did quickly. Jory was by far the better boxer.
He smashed Errol to his knees.
