Only about 7-8 years too late, but it's still a good move..

DETROIT (AP) -- Thomas ``Hit Man'' Hearns is set to announce
Thursday that his bout next month with two-time European champion
Crawford Ashley will be his last of his boxing career.
Hearns, winner of multiple titles, was to announce the decision
during a news conference at the Fox Theatre in Detroit, where he
will face Ashley on March 25 at Joe Louis Arena.
The 41-year-old Hearns (59-4-1 with 46 knockouts) will defend
his IBO cruiserweight title against the 35-year-old Ashley (39-9-1,
27 KOs) of England in a 12-round bout. Hearns won the title last
April in England with a victory by decision over Nate Miller.
Hearns, who held minor belts in every weight class from
welterweight to cruiser, was the junior-middleweight champion from
1984-86.

Tommy should make this his very
last appearance. He has developed
the classic syndrome associated
with Pugilistica Dementia, thick
slurred speech, floating eye contact,
halting gestures and moves. Sad,
sad, sad. But he sure gave it all
for his career. No one can fault his
heart, desire, and class professional
attitude. I wish him good years in
his retirement. He can still make a
contribution to boxing. He'll be
inducted into one of the Hall of Fame
venues.

I think our generation was blessed to see middleweights like Hagler, Leonard,
Duran and Hearns.

Bravo, Hearns. I hope it's not one fight too late.
Thomas Hearns should have retired five or six years ago. What a great, great
fighter.

i find it very weird the "hittable man" would make a meaningless fight
his last fight. usually fighters always want that last
big payday or last title fight. i think he's saying its his last fight
just to draw in a big crowd cuz he surly cant do it any other way...even
in his hometown of detoilet.
i think hearns was a joke in his day! he should of retired 10 years
ago....he slurs like an old whino on the street, and you could barely
understand him 20 years ago let alone today. adios 'hittable man"
p.s.- hope yer brother rots in jail!!!!!!!!
