Sugar Shane is 41-year-old. Isn't it about time to hang 'em up?

He boxed well, threw some good shots that were square on the mark, but he couldn't take Cano out.

Mosley was in good shape, maintained his fight weight, father Jack was there. Both looking older. Apparently the smell of the gym and the money is still attractive to them.

Damn!

Shane should have retired 3 or 4 years ago. Perhaps his alimony

Alimony? I got that beat by a mile. The way I avoided any of the vitriol and subsequent alimony stuff was predicated on a rather simple economic theory: I simply handed any checks I received to my wife. And it has worked for 56 years. :)

"Azúcar" Mosley is obviously miles away from the Sugar Shane of the
De La Hoya fights, but I don't think he is that bad. Although mainly a
consequence of the opposition, nonetheless, Mosley looked a lot
*better* than he did in the fights against either Mayweather, Mora,
Pacquiao, or Alvarez. The 10th round was (in my mind) a 10-8 Mosley
round. He had a lot less of that jittery hand-and-feet nervous energy
(although there were spots of that). I don't know if it is a
self-confidence thing (for sure, he is more confident in the face of
Cano than facing Pacquiao) - *or*, if Mosley gets that way nowadays,
when he takes punishment. I think the coolest thing was Mosley having
both his son and his father in his corner. That must have felt great.

Jack Mosley is a cool father. It was good to see that he and Sugar were in there together; however, I am of the opinion Sugar should not be there at all. He has done well, jittery or not, has been respectful of the Sweet Science and had comported himself well in many trying situations.

No doubt, Mosley is one of the genuine, classy, skilled guys. I've seen
the De La Hoya fights numerous times and they were both amazing (that
is, both men). And as a media person, Mosley is always polite and
relaxed (mature, in one word). If my post had a negative tone, let me
say I have the out-most respect for Mosley.

But, are you saying, he is fighting for the wrong reason(s)? Is so, of
course he shouldn't be there (and no one should).

From a health perspective, I think no one should do professional boxing
at 41... But if his love for the sport, the attention, and the life of
an elite fighter is so strong -- I mean, so many people are destructive
in one way or another -- but if you do it (that, which is destructive),
*but*, at the same time, bringing happiness and inspiration to others,
and living your dream...? Could you resist it?

Maybe I jumped to conclusions, but I always thought Mosley kept
fighting out of love for boxing and for the fighter's life. Although he
didn't make nearly as much money as De La Hoya (the Bill Gates of
boxing), surely he can't be broke?!

Emanuel, I certainly hope Mosley is not broke; otherwise, we may be seeing him again soon and with a chance that some young, very hungry fighter might do him permanent damage.
