Pacquiao knocks out Cotto in 12th
Associated Press
LAS VEGAS -- Manny Pacquiao put on yet another dominating performance
Saturday night, knocking down Miguel Cotto twice and turning his face
into a bloody mess before finally stopping him 55 seconds into the
12th round.
Pacquiao used his blazing speed and power from both hands to win his
seventh title in seven weight classes and cement his stature as the
best pound-for-pound fighter in the world. Cotto took such a beating
that his face was a river of red from the fury of Pacquiao's punches.
Pacquiao dropped Cotto with a right hand early in the third round, but
he wasn't badly hurt and came back to finish the round strong. But
after Pacquiao put Cotto on the canvas with a big left hand as Cotto
was advancing forward late in the fourth round, Cotto was never the
same again.
Cotto fought gamely but in the later rounds he was just trying to
survive as blood flowed down his face and Pacquiao kept coming after
him relentlessly.

Fixed.
Yeah. Looked like it. Clear that Cotto took his foot off the gas
pedal to allow Manny to win a close decision.
Pacquiao had to take some punishment to get to Cotto. Cotto came out
beautifully poised and looked very strong and very dominant in the
first, which was a truly awful round for Pacquiao. But the way
Pacquiao kept probing, wow, what confidence when going up in weight
again. And then Cotto thought he had acquiao hurt, opened up and
forgot to keep a tight guard, and down he went.
I think Cotto lost all his power after the third round, he was not the
same fighter after getting hit cleanly by Pacquiao. He tried gamely,
and it was unsettling to see Pacquiao do the rope-a-dope, hands up,
letting Cotto go to the body, but obviously Pacquiao sensed that was
further weakening Cotto's strength. And after round 5 Cotto's punches
had nothing behind them, and it became a rout. Cotto's corner should
have stopped it earlier - he had absolutely no chance of scoring a
come-from-behind ko, and he was so behind on points...
Cotto learned two things on this night. Number 1, not a good move to
come down in weight to fight one of the best boxers on the planet.
Number 2, Pcauiao has knockdown power in this left and right hands.
Maybe no other boxer in any weight class has that.

What I don't understand is how Cotto gained 19lbs (I think that's what they
said?) after the weigh in. I mean, how does one possibly gain that kinda
weight overnight?

I believe that the post was in reference to his having "fixed" the title
of the post. From it stating that Cotto was KO'd to TKO'd by Pacquiao.

p.s. Good analysis as usual on the rest of the post.

The down is weight is a bit overstated, isn't it?
He came in one point lighter than his last fight.
STRATEGY
I fixed the *subject* line. He wasn't KOed.
Dennis, from the witness protection program?
DCI
Sorry misunderstood.
I don't know about the other guy, but I was being sarcastic.
And what flyweight champion has ever brought his power up to
welterweight?
Well, I'm pretty sure the answer is that no other flyweight champion
has ever done that.
Wow. That makes everything different. Sorry.
lightweight title, never mind WW
this guys accomplishments are off the chart.........since Diaz, every
fighter was supposed to be bigger/too big than/for manny, but until
last night he never so much as lost a round to any of them.........and
in the end he's stopped them all. De La Hoya can whine all he wants
about how Manny never hurt him, but it's bullshit.........he as
hanging onto the ropes so he wouldn't go down, and he would've be
savagely KO'd/permanently damaged if that fight had gone on.
here's a thought......after last night Arum really is right (not just
greedy and mono-maniacal) to think Pacquiao should get the lion's
share vs Mayweather Jr..................because the pacmonster not
only proves his shit in the ring by fighting guys who not only can,
(under any type of objective reasoning SHOULD) beat him, whereas
Mayweather generally favors the road of least resistance both in match
making and his in-the-ring exchanges......yeas, he's both highly
skilled and charismatic as a persona, but Pacquiao has really now
transcended boxing and achieved a rare kind of buzz that should
absolutely have his promoter (whoever he may be) seeking the lion's
share against ANYONE, Mayweather Jr most definitely included.
Actually DC, I think I got it all mixed up and got the wrong fight...
Cotto's trainer is an idiot. He should have stopped the fight after
the 8th round.
Miguel Sr begged him to pull the plug after the 11th and was ignored
by this bozo.
