This is a stroy that I enjoy telling because it makes me smile and
reminds me of better times:

A good skill will never go to waste.

My grandfather was 77 years old and was happily retired from his
medical practice when he stepped down from a bus near his home only to
encounter a mugger.

The mugger was nearly 50 pounds heavier and, of course, much younger.
He came up from behind and put his arm around my grandfather's
shoulder and neck in an attempt to drag him down. Instead, my
grandfather grabbed the mugger's forearm and elbow, quickly hunched
down to get greater leverage from a lower center of gravity, then
twisted his upper body and pulled forward. The mugger had no footing
and was thrown over my grandfather's lowered shoulders. Because my
grandfather held the muggers arm, the throw resulted in a broken arm
between the elbow and shoulder of the mugger.

The screams of the mugger were heard by the neighbors, who called the
police. Ironically, the police station was only a few doors down the
street.

When the police arrived, the found the mugger laying on the ground
writhing in pain and my grandfather quietly standing near and still
puffing on his favorite pipe with the aroma of Sir Walter Raleigh's
tobacco smoke drifting slowly upward. The policemen, who knew my
grandfather very well, expressed great satisfaction with maybe a bit
of disbelief in my grandfather's ability to defend himself.

In his youth and later college days, he was on the wrestling teams
where he enjoyed great success and acclaim.

Enjoy!

Your grandfather probably had finished college by 1928, the
first year The NCAA crowned its wrestling champions. Seems
as though he could have been one of those guys.

This reminds me of the story of the two clowns who decided to rob the
old man they saw walking out of Jack Dempsey's restaurant in New York
City. They grabbed him from behind, and they quickly discovered they
were attacking Jack Dempsey! He cold-cocked them both, and then
called the cops. I'm sure the cops got a good laugh out of it.

I was thinking of the Dempsey tale when I posted the article.
According to Roger Kahn's bio the two muggers refused to get up from
the pavement until the police arrived because they were so terrified
of the old man.

Love that one!
Lucky for Frank Corti he does not live in the netherlands, here
Corti would have put in jail for that.

In Netherland there was a burglar who broke in an house of
an elder woman. This woman was the mother of a boxer
which by coincidence was at his mothers place.
There was a struggle and the boxer broke the nose of the
burglar, so the boxer was convicted.
Thats the way it goes in our backward country.

Grandfather stories are fun to tell. I certainly enjoy telling others
of my granfather's exploits. Mine taught me how to defend myself early
on. But most importantly, he taught me when to use those skills: only
when needed to fend off an attack.

In addition to the original story (That old bird put a whooping on the
punk! Busted him up!), yours is a great story.

There's a few similar stories of my Gramps and his brothers getting into
scuffles into their old age when some fellow thought they were easy
pickings. All those old boys were undefeated against the young turks. Of
course those old boys grew up wrestling, boxing and running relay races
with a couple hundred pounds on their backs (A guy had to do something for
fun before there was cable TVs and cars!).

Never underestimate an elder who has worked hard for many years.

Almost, we have a Moroccan Mayor and a political party put
Muslims a key positions in there party.
Our government continue to import criminal Muslims and throw
money at them in the hope to gain some votes.
Our current law isn't maintained if it is violated on the basis of
the Koran, I think in about 25 year we have a Muslim majority
and there will be little protests against a sharia law.

This story refers to the ex-champ Frank Corti. Who is he? I can find
no record of him being a "boxing champ".

Maybe he fought in the mateur brackets.
I, too, could not find any record of
a Frank Corti.
