I am wanting to purchase one of these tables, but noticed that on the
Brunswick website, they are listed as commercial tables. Is this because
they don't have all the fancy wood-working or is there actually a quality
difference in the table itself that makes it a little cheaper and,
therefore, easier for companies to purchase multiple of them for a Billiard
Parlor? I assume that just because they are classified as Commerical on
their website and any authorized dealer would sell one to a private party
instead of a business.

Am I right in this?
Leo.

The "commercial" tag means it was built a little tougher to withstand some
public abuse and the heavy wear & tear. It will have Formica rails and usually
leg levelers, framed slate etc..If anything, it is not a cheaper made table, it
is made better than the furniture home style tables.

Some fancy ones are built just as strong and well as commercial ones, but I
think they're real expensive. I just bought a Gold Crown 3 and its
absolutely 99% condition ( guy who had it never played on it) what i am
saying is based on this new purchase I disassembled the table and
reassembled it without any experience at all and did a perfect job. People
on this newsgroup go on and on about the construction of this vs. that--It's
all nonsense and I'll tell you why! Any table like the GC 3, Diamond, or any
other quality will be top notch and you will have 0 problems. These things
are built strong, to last a really long time, and to take abuse. I guess
they make it the way they do to make it easily moveable and standard to take
apart as well as standard parts. What I can't stand is how people harp on
little details of construction that mean nothing because they are all good
tables and you will never notice a difference.

One small detail that makes a 'commercial' table nicer to play on is the width
of the rails. You have a nice, large surgace to lay your hand on to form a
bridge when the cue ball is frozen to the rail, or pretty close to it no matter
where it is. This also applies to those moments when the cue ball is sitting in
the jaws of a corner pocket. With a GC or a Diamond (which I own) or one of the
other pro style tables, you actually have an opportunity to form a decent
bridge with your hand and take a shot. I have never liked the one inch thick
rim around the furniture style table pockets.
