New Ted Harris cue arrived!!

custom cue waiting for me. This is a cue that I help pick the wood
types and design. Ted just finished up the cue a few weeks ago. Ted
was pretty happy with the design and the way all the colors popped, so
he asked if he could take the cue to the Mid-West Billiards Expo.
While there he had the cue shot for the upcoming edition of the Blue
Book of Cues where the cue will be featured and the description will
include my name! Very cool. The following is how Ted describes the
cue:
The cue consists of a fiery orange cocobolo joint, followed by an
ebony front cored with laminated maple, with 6 points of fiery orange
cocobolo wrapped in maple-black-maple veneers of alternating length.
The points on this cue are very long. The black textured leather wraps
a laminated handle and is bordered by a fiery orange cocobolo butt
sleeve and a black phenolic butt plate. The cue has ringwork
throughout at A,B,C,D,E, two shafts, and was custom made for Shayne
Dillinger @ 60" in length. Cue weighs 19.25 oz.
The workmanship is second to none on this truely beautiful cue. The
cocobolo looks like it could glow in the dark and it boggles my mind
how a human can get points that sharp and even. I'm not to good at
describing a cues hit and after all it is subjective, but I'll say
it's very "pure" with no buzzes or harshness. The hit is very pleasing
and makes you rush to next shot just so you can hit agian.
Now you may wonder how much a cue like this costs. $1150. Or you can
do like I did and win a Fantasy 9-Ball event which is $15 for three
events. I won Brady's Mid-Atlantic 9-Ball event and Ted gave me the
chance to personalize the winning cue by allowing me to help with the
design. I know that maney of you here already play F9B. I think Joe T.
won the last session. If you've never played you might consider giving
it a shot on the upcoming Glass City Open.

Brady posted a couple on his sight, but they don't do
the cue any justice. The cocobolo really pops under
the lights.

Looks very nice. Is that a red phenolic joint, too?
I've never seen a Harris cue in the flesh, but would certainly like
too. Especially since he's only about fifty miles away from me. 8;)
I wonder if there's a regular at any of the well-known Maryland pool
halls who plays a Harris...

That is a very nice looking cue. I'm not normally a fan of ebony as I
like to the wood's grain to be obvious which it isn't with ebony.
However, that particular combination of woods is very nice looking
indeed.

If you can get over to Fast Eddie's in Alexandria on Friday night, you
can check out Nick Prinsloo's cue. He is the tournament director
there on Friday nights. I made him a cue with the same dimensions as
his snooker cue from South Africa. Nick is also one of the owners of
the Falcon Cue Tour. Nick's cue is a good representaion of my work,
but remember that is is much thinner than my standard dimensions.
Nicks cue has a birdseye front, with six same length ebony points with
a "wildwood" California Buckeye blueish impregnated handle, and an
ebony butt sleeve wrapped in California Buckeye joint and butt plate.
Peter Ghostine may also be there, and he has an entry level cocobolo
cue that is about 4 years old. There are many others in that area
that also have my cues. If you get over to Great Slates in Cambridge,
MD, which is about 95 miles from you, ask for the owner, John Moody.
He has a very nice cue I made him; ebony front, six alternating
cocobolo points with yellow-black-yellow veneers, with ivory diamonds
in each point, and six ivory diamonds in the butt sleeve, and an ivory
butt plate and joint. Great Slates is having a Falcon Cue Tournament
the weekend of November 22-23rd. There will be several of my cues
there, and I might even have some on display. In case you ever want
to come here, my shop is 150 miles from Alexandria. Call me if you are
ever in the area.

Great Slates is on my list of halls to visit. Unfortunately, I'm
committed to going to Philadelphia the weekend of 22-23 Nov. 8;(
