What is the most impressive shot you've ever made before? Here's mine :

Playing a game of nineball (and keep in mind i'm a beginner), I hit in
the three, put draw on it so it bounced off the cushion for the 4-9
combo. This was the shot where i won a match in the school tournament
with. It's probably really dumb for you.

6 balls on the break in 9 ball with the cue ball in the middle of the table
and the other three wide open.

Mine was a full ball jump 15" away from whitey (the shot was the length of
the table) that spun in an object ball frozen to the opposite rail a foot
away from the hole.

I have shot fancier shots in one pocket, but this called eightball three
rail kick shot in a tournament, sticks out in my memory the best.

This was my most impressive shot ever. Don't laugh, that's no joke, it really
happened! Race to seven, the score was hill hill. My opponent tried to make a
2-9 combo, missed it and nearly scratched, leaving me with the cueball frozen in
the corner pocket as shown in the setup:

START(
%BE3F3%C_2T8%D_6W0%E^3R7%FG7P4%G_6D9%HE7O1%ID3D7%PC4Z8%bF7G7

No chance to go for one rail, because of the 3, 4 and 5. Also no chance for a
three rail shot, because of the 7 ball, and of course again the 3, 4 and 5. The
only realistic chance to hit the 2 was a masse shot. It was in a tournament, and
I was on the loosers bracket and still not in the money. Amazingly I was not
nervous at all, and we both laughed about the lucky shot. So I went for the
masse shot, and hit it just perfect, as I only rarely did before in my life. My
opponent shouted at me: "You fucking crazy fool!", then we both laughed again
and went to the bar to have a drink. I don't think that something like this will
ever happen again to me, and I'll never forget it!

Best regards, Thomas

in my very first McDermott tour event several years ago. It was hill-hill
racing to nine and my opponent played a pretty good safe here. I made this
shot to get into the money. Also this was the last match of the night and
the whole place broke out in applause when I made the attempt. I figured
even if I missed I was going to leave him long. I had to play Robbie Hudson

Mine was during a tournament at Legends Billiards in League City, Texas.
My opponent played a safety off of the break. I had to make a life or
death shot. If I give my opponent Ball in hand, there's no problem with
him getting out. I can't remember why I couldn't break up the 2/9
combination. I know there were some balls in the road, but even if I
could do this, my opponent was Jeremy Jones, and he was sure to run out
with BIH, even if I broke up the 9. I saw a remote possibility, and
drove the cueball into the rail with high right english. The ball
curved like I knew it would, and then caught the bottom rail, and spun
into the one. I was just praying to hit the one, but I actually made it
and was able to make the combo on the 9 on the next shot. I don't even
remember if I went on to win the match, but I can vividly remember the
feeling of making that shot.

This was the finish to a small cheap set. I didn't like the follow because
if I didn't scratch in the lower right pocket, I still might get caught up
in it. I decided to let my Massey stroke out and bombed the following
pattern:

START(
%Hd9K9%IE4M0%PD2G3%Wq8D4%Xf1K6%YL5E0%Zd2Z8%]c3K8%^E3G5%eB9b0

-----------------------
The situation made the following very memorable to me. It was a league
playoff match, and I was the last player. I need to win with three balls
left on the table. I had solids, and my opponent played a safety. After a
timeout (timeouts are important kids), I played the following shot.

START(
%Ef2W5%HL8L7%Ih9Z4%Mr5F2%N\6V0%PT1T4%QT4Z2%RA6[6%SA6B2%Wh5W1

)END

I made the 5-ball in pocket B, and my cueball rolled to point A. While the
entire drunk crowd was still going crazy, I somehow managed to pot the
8-ball in pocket C for the win. We won by less than 1pt.

-----------------
Because I suck, I was in an 8-ball tournament where I dogged the 8-ball on
the hill-hill game. My opponent played a decent safe. Up against the
cushion, I spin-kicked at the 8-ball which was sitting right in the middle
of the table. The 8-ball miraculously split the pocket.

I didn't do it, but my brother was playing in a tourney and he was in the
losers bracket playing the winner in the second set. It was hill-to-hill and
my brother was breaking. He has always hit the balls hard and solid, well,
this time he did it gracefully. 1,2,3,4 etc.... all the balls fell, except
the cue ball and 9 ball which was left as a straight in shot into the
corner. Needless to say, the guy he was playing broke his stick down and
shoke my brothers hand and left. Everyone else was hollaring in amazement.
Quite a moment for him.

Mine was in a tournament in Worcester at Elite Billiards.. I won a match and
ended up with Zuglan in the next round. Was getting totally destroyed, as you
can imagine. Come the sixth game or so I actually get to the table, run down
to the 8 ball and leave myself stuck completely behind the 9 ball with like a
spot shot on the 8. Jump over the 9 (using the Szamboti) and sink the 8. I
still lose the game! I think I won one game that match.

I was in the finals of a 8 ball tournament and had this shot come up.
I was in a redneck bar and they REALLY didnt like people to shoot
safe or not give an honest effort in making the ball so I tried kicking
back in the side. I was real surprised that it went but even happier
that the people playing just blew it off as luck(it was). That was a
great little honey hole for a few months. Lots of jellybeans made it my

My most impressive shot was a break against a local shark, who considered
himself a hustler. 6 balls on the break and one of them was the 9-ball. Just
the look on his face and seeing his chin drop to the floor made it a memorable
moment. Now the neatest shot I made was also a break shot where the cue ball
flew straight up and broke the light and then came down on the 9-ball, firing
it into a corner pocket, dodging broken glass all the way!

Here is a shot that defy physics.

Two balls stuck to the top bank. One ball stuck to bank while other ball
stuch to that ball in a perfect line. Cue ball is shot from other side of
table in a straight line with the lined up balls. The cue ball goes airborn
while the first ball goes airborn and hoops into top left pocket during this
process the ball against the rail roll lightly forward then the cue ball
coming down hit the bank low then hits the ball that goes to the other side
of the table and back but when it comes back it caroms off the cue ball and
get pocketed in the top right pocket.

Here is a one in a million shot

Howdy all. I've been away from this group a near 5 years, but happy to see
so many familiar names still here.

My best shot has to be the most incredible stroke of luck I've heard of. If
it didn't happen to me, I wouldn't believe it, and still hardly do.

I was playing at a University of Texas club 9-ball tournament on GCIII's
that had been very worn and fairly abused over the years. I broke and ran
to the 4, then had a difficult shot where the 5 had to be banked across to a
corner just so... well, I hit a little too hard with top and sunk the 5 all
right, but planted the cue ball right in the adjacent corner. There were a
couple of balls in that corner already, so the cue ball popped back out with
the force of the shot, but rather than landing back on the slate, it dropped
on the rail surface and spun like a bastard right where the cloth meets the
laminate, rolling its way over to rest _right_ in front of the Brunswick
foot placard.

What killed me was, it was still in contact with the felt and was judged
"In-Play" and I continued from there. I sunk 6 on my next shot and miffed
the 7, losing the match. ;-)

However, the coolest shot I've ever seen was for a $50 bet. This guy jumped
a cue ball over an object ball with enough backspin to sink it in the
corner, when they were both frozen in the middle of a the rail, half an inch
apart. He only used the shaft of his stick to make the shot. I've never
seen anything like that again.
