Took my case with two cues (two butts, three shafts), no problem.
Carried it on. The guy at the ticket/check-in counter said it counted
as my briefcase. One dufflebag carry-on and one 2x4 cue case, nobody
even batted an eye. It does have to go into the overhead though since
it won't fit under the seat. If the plane is full and baggage is tight
I suppose you could have them slip it into the coat closet.
You might want to check and verify what you have stuffed into the
pockets on the case though (if you case has pockets). Some stuff or
items you might carry to local poolhalls may not be liked by airline
security. They seem to have a very selective sense of humor about some
things.

well... the place where they store all the luggages is very cold in the air...
(of course, there isn't any reason for keeping the temperature normal down
there..) if it's a long flight... i suggest you to have your cue case as a
carry-on item... in this way, when you take out your cues for the first time,
your cues won't be damp due to a big change in the temperature...

Story: First time I tried going through security with my cue and case they
stopped me and took away my Kubotan. When I asked why (it was the 'fob' on
my keychain) they explained that that 6" piece of wood was a weapon and not
allowed in the airport! 'Ahhh a weapon', I thought to myself as I carried
my two encased bludgeons toward the gate. Makes you wonder..............

Carry it on.
I'll retell two of my favorite airplane stories:
I was in some international terminal having made it passed security,
customs, etc. Just before boarding the plane, the flight attendant asked me
if I had a poster in my case. I replied, "no." She then started ranting,
"YOU CAN'T TAKE THAT IN THERE!!!!" Apparently in her mind, if it wasn't a
poster, then it was obviously a sword. True story. Scared the shit out of
me and the couple hundred other passengers.
I was in San Diego (I think) going through the X-Ray when the attendant
stopped me so that he could ask someone about what he was looking at. A
younger guy comes over and takes a look. With arrogant condescension, the
young guy pats his co-worker on the back saying something to the effect of,
"it's okay. It takes a while, but you'll get the hang of it."
While Mr. Arrogant was walking away, the first guy yells out, "hey, what is
it?"
With a smirk, Mr. Arrogant replies, "it's a telescope" and confidently
walked away.
Yup. A telescope.
Hope this helps.

Definitely you should get rid of that small bag of baby powder for
sweaty hands. White powder could create some problems :-)

This has been discussed here several times before. I have never had a
problem carrying my cue on the plane. My wife did have a problem once with
the butt of her jump cue. They considered it a weapon. After explaining what
it was for she was permitted to carry it on. Others here have said the
airline would not allow them to carry it on and they had to check it with
their luggage. You might want to check with your airlines a head of time.
